One is a 2016 Whirlpool WTW4816FW0 washer, has bad bearings and will be scraped. Run a test and heard it roaring.

One is a 2019 Whirlpool WTW4816FW2 (made on 6th week of 2019), suspension rods are bad and I thought it was worth fixing until I spun the drum manually hearing the sound of roaring bearings. Has both bad rods and bearings.

I also got in a Samsung WA40J3000AW/A2, had bad bearings which I didn’t expect on a Samsung, thought it’d just be suspension rods or a pump, but nope, it’s bearings.

And I got the 2022 MVW6230HW2 washer with a bad control board but other parts good, and a Kenmore 110.20222510 with bad suspension rods. Got in an Amana NTW4605EW0 also with bad rods.

Bad suspension rods

The spring and suspension rod assembly has built in damping like a shock absorber in a car they can wear out we find machines that have had a lot of use and are usually at least 6 to 10 years old. Sometimes have bad damping ability and the machine tends to have more trouble Spinning without a lot of vibration and banging about.

You can test them just by putting your hands on the agitator or wash plate and bouncing the tub up and down you can tell the difference between good ones and bad ones pretty quickly.

I really doubt all the machines here have bad suspension rods. I’ve never seen them in a machine. That’s only a couple years old even five years old it would be extremely rare.

The cheap shock absorbers that are used in front load washers can do the same thing. Frigidaire had particularly bad shock absorbers in their front load machines since even before 2000 they lose all damping ability and have to get changed or sometimes the machine will damage itself from the tub banging around to violently.

A friend of mine blew out her suspension rods in a Maytag VMW in about 4yrs.
But she’s known not to load it right and wash lots towels and comforters.

While my parents’ MVW765 is going 7yrs strong with good damping in their rods still, last I checked.
