Went to Fleet Farm, and I was happy to see that they had Hytron powder in the green container!! I was worried it would not any for sale, and sure enough they had it!

I grabbed the large one, but then figured get the small one first and see how it works.

They had both Hytron powder in the green container, and baby blue container phosphate free.

Will test it out tonight! :-)

Hey that's cool. I myself am waiting for the STPP I ordered to arrive. I finally convinced myself buy some. Scheduled to be here on Monday, I should have some dirty clothes piled up by then. I can't wait to try it too!

Peter,

The bottle don't say how much it has..

The load came out clean!!!!!! Plates with dried on baked beans, pan with left over enchilada in it. Tub was not pink!

I wonder how long Fleet Farm is going to have this???

I love the chlorine smell of the the powder, and while the dw is running. You know your dishes are clean when the cycle is finished.

Less than 0.5% phosphates. Considered (well, used to be when detergents routinely had 8-17% phosphate) to be trace or incidental amounts, not enough to make any difference whatsoever.

Was talking with Roger the other night about this green label Hytron, both of us are less than impressed with the cleaning performance and Terry has noticed unwanted foaming in the main wash with it as well. Since it has essentially no phosphates, Roger and I are going to try adding some to see if that helps performance.

Greg,

They must have just recently changed the formulation. I still have some of the old stuff, and it works great. Guess I'll have to make trip to Fleet Farm to see if they have some of the old formula left.

<0.5% Phosphates

Is the new normal "standard" for automatic dishwashing detergents. Indeed it is considered "trace" amounts and is the cause of all the recent furore.

Jug of Cascade "Complete" gel (old formula) that one is using currently lists 5.5% phosphates on the label. IIRC the boxes of Cascade one has stashed away (again old formulas) range about 6% or maybe more of phosphates.

Regarding chlorine bleach in dishwashing detergents:

In an effort to make a dent in my detergent stash, bunged 1/2 of a small scoop of dry chlorine bleach into the first rinse last time one ran the dw, and was that well pleased. The stuff did what one wanted. Destained the plastic tub, sanitised dishes and got rid of the whiff that units sometimes build up.

May keep a box of two of dry chlorine bleach on standby! Local laundromats sell the stuff in vend size packets.

I know, Tim, I thought the Hytron would have been loaded with phosphates too but it certainly doesn't perform that way. I need to turn on the dishwasher now, I'll put some STPP in the cups with the Hytron and report back tomorrow. If I can keep my eyes open that long (45 min.) I might be able to get back in a while.

L, a recent trip to the detergent aisle found not even a trace amount of phosphates. I did buy some Finish gel with chlorine bleach but I'm still not sure why. No phosphates either. Have you had any luck with adding STPP to gels and liquids in the dispensers? Plastic-tub dishwasher in your kitchen? Where's the Miele ;-)

The package on the green label Hytron don't say what % of phosphateit has, the blue said "phosphate free".

It did a lot better job than Finish had done. Finish did far better than Cascade.

Looked at the web page link below, and says it has phosphate.

0.5% wasn't nearly enough

Adding STPP worked like a charm. The load was clean and shimmering when I opened the machine this morning. I was awake for most of the cycle and didn't notice an appreciable change - muffling, etc. of the water sounds so I presume it didn't foam during the main wash.
