Im getting ready to bring in my set of GS cookware, any tips on its use, I know some actually bake in the big kettle, I have all the racks etc, but would not dare try to heat it dry on a electric unit,Who does???seems as if it would burn out the bottom??

Hans, Do you have the users' manual/ recipe book for the set? It tells what heats to use. The pieces were not heated over high heat. I had visions of the aluminum melting, too. I don't think that with today's modern ovens it is necessary to bake on top of the range, something that early waterless cookware advocated to save fuel and avoid heating up the house in summer with oven use.  I like to put Christmas ornaments in the oval roaster and view them through the domed lid.

Guardian Service Kettle Oven

Hans,
It does not hurt it one bit. I have been using mine to bake cakes and pies for
over 40 years. It is designed to be used in that manner. The casserole tureen is the same idea. You heat the bottom unit on med high and then add the second top unit to bake mac & cheese, meat loaf etc.
I have baked angel food cake on top of the range and pineapple upside down cakes in the chicken fryer.

I sent you some shots of using the two sided omelet pan with great egg omelets. Never any burning or sticking.
I have been using my giant turkey roaster on my 40" Frigidaire double oven as it has a bridged element that works great for pancakes.

Now I will tell you I DO NOT use the kettle oven to bake on the new glass top range. I did use it for over 30 years on my former Frigidaire Imperial with the radiant tube units and it worked perfect with no damage to either the range top, element or Guardian pan.
Drop me an email if you need any instructions. All it takes is just a little practice with your own range.
We just had company last week end and the man and wife were shocked I was using 40 year old pans and cooked the vegetables without water.
Over the years I have had it all like Revere, Faberware, Corning Ware, multi-ply stainless waterless and always come back to the Guardian Service.

I do not use the glass lids in the oven and I have never put it in a dishwasher but then I never use a dishwasher anyway.

I have a few pieces I use, mostly the oval roaster.
I use mine stove top, but the bottom can be used in oven.
DO NOT put the glass lids in the oven as they aren’t ovensafe and will break

Radiantube burners

Hans,
Xraytech is correct. Guardian Service CAN be used in the oven but it was designed for stove top waterless cooking.
My old Frigidaire had elements just like yours. I DID NOT like using the Guardian Service on the front "speed heat" unit as it provided too much heat too quick.
The controls on my old range top were somewhat different than yours. Mine showed RED the more you turned the heat value up.
They were almost like the old Hotpoint Tel-A-Cook lights. You could tell from across the room which heat was on and how high it was adjusted.
I would start process on a little less than 1/2 for less than 5 minutes and then down to LOW.
When frying, I test the heat till a few drops of water bead up and dance around on the pan.
You should never see vapor coming out under a lid. That indicates too much heat at the start.

Even with the newer glass top range, I start at the same level and NOTHING sticks, even eggs when you do the flip with the omelet pan.

If you have any problems drop me a line. I have been using them over 40 years now and be glad to help you.
Because of the unique bottom with the flange, it traps all the heat and the sides are just as thick as the bottom so it does not take high heat to fry.
You are an experienced cook so you will get it after a few trials and errors. Each range cooks a little different.
As you can see the eggs do not stick. Check out the other side of the omelet pan. I filled it with too much batter but the surface that did the first side baking did not stick.
They work perfect on the newer Frigidaire glass top as every burner has measured, controlled heat values (like the old Heat Minder unit on the Frigidaire).

Re Green frigidaire!

My controls do show the red band as you increase the heat, that old stove is a good one., I grew up around it, Our neighbors bought it new when I was about 7 or 8, I remember the range they had before that, a 1952 Thrifty Thirty!

Yes

I didn't like the one in this house, its a 65 Frigidaire 40 inch, but its a divided top which I hate and its got a damn pull and clean oven which never bakes to suit me, so I put old vomicado back in, its hard to beat and the Westinghouse is in the laundry room around the corner.
