Below you'll find two pictures featuring just some of my small appliances. BUT, only one of them made it's debut in my kitchen today.
Clue; it's not the Cuisinart coffee maker nor the Bosch Universal mixer.

Which one is it..
Universal Coffee perc
Vesuvius espresso maker
Ronson Cook'n'Stir blender
GE electric kettle
Oster Touch a Matic can opener
Sunbeam C51 auto lowering toaster
Oster Deluxe beehive blender
Oster Kitchen Center
Oster commercial liquifier/blender
Oster Imperial Dual Cycle Pulse Matic 16 blender
Oster Imperial Pulse Matic 8 blender
Oster Supreme beehive blender
Silex Blendette

And to think I let a Sears 12 speed rebadged HB blender get away from me at the flea market yesterday, all shiny and chromy..darn!! But this sort of made up for it.

guessing

My bet's on the Ronson Cook & Stir

What's that big white one with the electronic controls and large bowl?

Louis, you're the lucky winner

It is the Oster Kitchen Center. I've seen a few around but they were mostly in not good shape but this one was a near give-away and unblemished. The blender jar was missing but I have extra's for it. From the design alone it's probably an ok blender but the mechanics for the mixer head attachment as shown leave something to be desired. I can't see this machine having enough torque to knead more than a couple of cups of flour at the most. Probably ok for light cake mixes though. There's also a meat grinder attachment I have no plans to ever use.. probably won't even use the contraption for anything anyways, but it's got buttons and a dial. Overall it's poorly designed and cheap construction compared to Osters earlier machines.

Jaune..the Bosch Universal is a primo mixer, it can easily handle 10 cups of flour without any struggle or noise and it only weighs 11 pounds, plus it has a blender attachment, food processor, meat grinder, sausage stuffer, pasta maker, grain grinder. While it doesn't look heavy duty it can easily outperform the largest KA pro mixer no contest.

The wifes always the last to know!

God I come home from work and this is all he does all day! Keps laying them out and taking photos! - I havent had a meal prepared yet!!! Oh well!!! LOL

Well I think its the small things that matter so I'k going for the kettle, although I am yet to see tea in bed!

Louis

Your prize will be a wonderful fun filled trip to America this June all at your own expense..LOL

John, surely you have better things to do in bed than drink tea, like sleeping. :)

Tell us more about the cook and stir blender.

Quote: You're marriage material!!!
Isn't he though....

Ah so DishyJohn... already in Canada and married? Yesterday it was contemplated; today it's reality. You move fast. And who WAS the matron of honor?

[Sorry kiddies this is partially form another thread]

I am so jealous.

Blenders and stuff to die for!

Pete:

I know you've heard this before, but....I love all of your small appliances! Austin has been wanting a Cook and Stir, but alas, we've yet to stumble onto one! Truly, I don't think I could fit one more small appliance in my kitchen (now renamed the S/S Cramalot).

I need to check out the thread with the Ovenola. Haven't had a chance to see how this works. I'm guessing a stovetop oven, right?

Looking way forward to intellectual discussions on the topic of small appliances at the convention. ;-)

toggleswitch dont be blue

I know toggleswitch, I move fast, yes it was a beautiful wedding, I got a hoover twin tub to be bridesmade in the end, Canada seems nice, lots of Mounties! LOL

I feel alas, i am already an appliance widow tho, If I had a CAN $ for every time a new appliance catches his eye, *SOB*.

I considered ending it all, but couldnt fit all my head into the Bosch mixer.

Venus..you can never have enough small kitchen appliances and should grab all the good stuff when it's out there ripe for the pickin. Not enough room? The secret is Rubbermaid storage bins and totes or fascimile thereof. So easy to stack n store treasures in..hahahaha. Cook'n'Stir blenders show up occasionally on Ebay though often in rough looking shape. They were manufactured around 1969 for a few years as a stand alone blender like mine or as a built in countertop unit called the Ronson Food Matic similar to the Nutone Food Center. The stand alone blenders only sold for a few years, Ronson collapsed in N.America but the Food Matics continued to be manufactured up until around 1988-9 and available at appliance stores that promoted high end ranges etc. The "hot plate" on the in counter untis was removeable and needed to be plugged in to a wall outlet unlike the stand alone blender.
They're a super solid machine - all heavy metal construction, 10 speeds, 1/3 hp motor and a 2 speed mechanical transmission that gives a fun solid "clunk" when switched from stir to blend. Must be done while not operating though or goodbye blender. The temperature dial is like an oven, up to 400 degrees and the indicator above it states "cooking cycle started" this lights up when it reaches the selected temperature and cycles on/off while in cooking mode maintaining the temperature. Just as a blender it's probably tops as well, where most blenders are either very narrow at the bottom of the jar and all have small little blades, the Cook'n'stirs jar is actually about 6 inches diameter at the base, wider than the top and the blades are about 5 inches across, more like a pot, the glass jar has not bottom it clips onto the aluminum base/blade/handle and has a rubber gasket to prevent leaks. . Hmmm I'll post a pic of it apart so you can see what I mean.
Bsically though, this is the ultimate blender, well designed, extremely well built and rock solid plus it actually works as well as the claims they made. Too bad they don't make them anymore.

I did see the Ronson "Cook-and Stir" machine in a Fisher lab supply catalog. They did mention that "The instrument is ideal for preparing agar solutions"The catalog was dated 1972.
in a 1970's book I have on kitchen remodeling-they show the Ronson and the Nutone in counter machines. The only "in counter" machine sold today is the "conesuer"(sorry about the spelling) blender by Blendtec. They show it on the Blendtec website. the machine is a blender-its similar to their commercial in counter models I have two Blentec machines-they are very nice and one I have-the "Titan" has a blade that is 5 in across.the machine can be used with the base that comes with it or you can remove the motor and soundhood from the base and make a cutout in your countertop and mount it there instead.

I love the Concepts

Next kitchen re-do I'm having one of them cut into my countertop which will of course be granite..lol. Too bad they can't get a heating element in there like Ronson did and it would be the absolute cats ask. A super mixer, dough maker and cooker all in one. Why even with some imagination they could even make a larger bowl and have an agitator for small countertop wash loads of course. I should be paid for my ideas LOL

I don't think I would ever buy a built in mixer. If they break down it will be hard to find a replacement that fits if they aren't produced anymore.

If you want something with a heating element there is ofcourse the Thermomix. It's bloody expensive. I'm posting here a picture of the latest model. The website shows the previous one.

Quote: Bosch has a built-in kitchen center too.

We have a POS brand called "NuTone." they originally made door-bells (door-chimes ==> UK)

They at one time offered built-in kitchen appliances similar to Bosch.

See also NuTone.com (Broan appears to be the parent co.)

Bosch versus Nu-tone. No contest..worth it for me to get a transformer!

Louis, as per your logic, looks like they dropped the product.
