Excellent catch Bobby...............looks showroom new.

Steve...that opening in the baseplate was to facilitate threading the drive belt onto the center pulley without having to tilt the machine. It was much more helpful with the stack unit, as it was difficult, at best, to slide the washer off of the dryer stand to get to the belts. You would reach your hand in there and thread the belt more easily.
 
That washer is a great find. I have an A613 that is very similar...except that instead of 4 speed selections there are 2..regular/fast and gentle/slow. I would have to say that this was the last series with the regular 5 gear transmission with the nice long stroke. I think the last I have seen of these was in 1989. Then they introduced the Orbital Dependable Drive in 90....I could be wrong on the years. Very good machine and it is a workhorse. Washes very well and doesnt wear out the clothes.

A very nice catch! Don't worry about the small bend in the bleach dispenser. They ALL have that and despite the bend, the dispenser always seems to work... Check your damper and injector then use her in good health!

She really is a beauty. I have to polish her tonight. Last night I changed the inlet screens, as the hot was full of sediment. The original fill hoses came with it, but the drain hose was missing. I have a spare from another 12 series that had been tossed out at the Salvation Army. This series eliminated the tinnerman clips on the top cover. The screws thread into the top frame directly. Also there is no rubber stop ring for the agitator. They added a set screw to keep the agitator from lifting off. It wobbled a little, and the looseness would drive me crazy, so I put on an OEM stop ring that I had. Now the agitator is snug as a bug, the way the older ones were. The belts are a little frayed, surprizingly, so I need to replace them. I love the access to the pulley from under the tub. Great idea and improvement. I assume this model is from 1985. I'll post pics of our maiden wash this weekend.

The last long stroke tranny to come off the assembly line was June of 1986.

Since you have the newer gold colored band that runs around the edge of the console (vs. the older silver colored band), I'd say 1985-86 sounds about right for your machine.

I've always been like this, don't know why...but at times I prefer a warm water rinse over a cold. I'm glad to see you can make that choice on your machine.
