My parents had this dryer from the time I could remember,until after I left home in 1973.I think ours was a 1956,as that was the year our house was built. I can recall dad working on it a couple times. One time a nail that had made it though the washer,got caught in the dryer. It fell down through one of the holes in the drum,and stopped the dryer drum from turning. Seems like it tore up the element also.
Also remember the lint filter system. There was a large black drawer that pulled out from the bottom in front. It had a large framed metal screen that just laid in the drawer,and was removed for cleaning. A long handled brush came with the dryer to aid the cleaning of the drawer and screen. It was a messy job to clean,and mom hated it. I can recall "tumble weeds" of lint here and there around the dryer,that did not make it into the trash can.
