That, and a hit costs $25 on the street, I'm told. Note also that the price is evenly divisible by that amount. Looks like he's shooting for a couple of grams...

IIRC something like <$400 new in 1965/1966.
and the standing pilot IS fabulous for introducing humidity and white powdery dust into the machine and air! (I think it is the chemical used to give natural gas a scent, but I forget what it is called.)

Actually, this guy is a bit closer to reality than one vac seller on eBay who's BuyItNow on some old Kirby's I've seen at $2,5000! And he gets the price, too! If I ever figure out his secret, my humble collection will be outta here so fast the bags will be scorched.
