My new yard sale find. I see two screws on the front sides and two on the back. I take the top off then do what to kill the lid switch? Anyone have any experience with these?

Switch defeats me!

I got the HLP23 1.5 cubic feet model new over a year ago. I wanted to defeat the switch as well especially since it has an opaque plastic lid. It was cheap online, but as it was new I didn't want to take it apart- I figured the switch might be triggered by one of the springs on the side of the lid-

Long story short, I ended up displacing a spring that fell down inside the cabinet, and then the friggin lid never stays open by itself- a pain until I rigged a bungee chord over it that holds the lid up.

The switch still shuts the washer down when the lid is open, so I've never gotten much of a view of the wash- I can get a glimpse when I open it really fast-

so the switch thing was frustrating, but I love the washer and it's hooked up permanently to a laundry faucet in my bathroom that allows me to regulate the temperature. A year and a half and no problems at all- and very convenient, I throw stuff directy into it and run it when it's full.
