Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

"Raindrops are Fallin on my Head"

Actually, it would be a better, more washer appropriate theme to call it "nature's spray rinse" rather than "rain drops"!

And So it Begins

Greg and Lynn have served us with hot coffee, blueberry muffins and hugs around. Now its time to unlaod the heavy toys and get the water flowing.

And The Beat Goes On

Patrick brought mixers, a pristine Hamilton Beach and a nice as new Sunbeam. We pressed the Hamilton Beach into service to make Hot Water Fudge Cake for Luncheon Dessert.

Hurry Up and Eat so We Can Open the Presents

Just like waiting for Santa, we had to eat first. Amazing potato salad with baked beans and grilled brats. Then haul in the goods and get going. Jon brought his Kenmore portable and hooked it up in the laundry room. I was surprised at how quiet it is and Mickeyd would have loved the low level splash as the kitchen linens went for a swim.

A Sucker Born Every Minute

It was time to unearth the basement cache of vacuums, vintage glassware and sprinklers. Who knew that Jon and Greg are sprinkler lovers? Line up and commence sucking.

Hard To Believe

Its beyond grasping the completeness of how hospitable Greg and Lynn are. Food and drink are flowing, the bed and breakfast is in place and they even offered doggie daycare to Jon and Tony's wild man Aldolph.

Had a GREAT time!

Well I am back and unpacked. I have to say that this was a great event. The hosts Greg and Lynn with co-host Kelly really know how to hold a Wash-In. It was great to meet Brun, see Brian again, and of course Jon and Tony always add life to any gathering.

Kelly and Greg "did the dance" perfectly in the kitchen and turned out 3 absolutely wonderful meals. I'm sure I've gained a few pounds!

Thank you all again for the great weekend.

Patrick

Thank you again Greg and Lynn, and Kelly for the fantastic meal. It was great to see everyone and the various collections. I had a great time hope we can do it again sometime.

IT IS SO QUIET AROUND HERE!
Yesterday was a day full of fun, friendship and food. We laughed so hard, we ate so well and we watched a little football, discovered other shared interests and had a blast.
Kelly, thank you for turning my kitchen into a bakery. There's red velvet cake, hot water chocolate cake, cinammon rolls, onion bread, sour cream raisin pie, lemon meringue pie and I don't remember what else. My diet is out the window!
Our trip to Albert Lee was great and I know I'm happy with my appliances. And the 60 GE Mobile Maid and the Lady Kenmore portable were put to use washing up after our great meals.
But most of all it was sharing time with others with the same interests. I don't have a washer collection--its vacuums. But I was enthralled by all the conversations about restorations, repair tips, and the trial of the hunt!
My best to new friends, Kelly, Jon & Tony, Patrick, Brun and Brian. When are we going to do this again? Greg

OOh, LK Portable and GE BotTie Impeller dishwashers begging to be BobLoaded!! Patrick please bring both the dishwasher and the SQ when I come out there sometime (Kelly's working on me). I've not ghotten to play with a BowTie or a SQ solid tub since the 2005 Convention in Omaha!!

Brun

For so long we've visited on line with Brun aka WhitekingD but getting together hasn't worked out. What a wonderful guy! Brun is filled with appliances tales past and present and his home holds so many of the family's cherished appliances. In addition Brun founded the $15.00 dollar club. He swings the voodoo wallet twice before entering a second hand store and out come matching Yellow Alphabet Kenmores and KD-14's among other finds. It was interesting to learn so much more, college, degrees, careers and experiences. I am so glad to have made the connect and added a new junking partner as well as a kind, gentle and very intelligent friend.

North by Northwest

Northwesty and I met in 2007 when Dick Stevensen was here from the desert collecting machines. It was a parking lot trade and the fabulous Suburban disappeared over the hill. A year later Eddy needed a GE and I had one to donate. Again the Suburban appeared, swallowed the Filter Flo and left. I was awe struck to see Brian emerge from the Suburban, this time to stay a while. It was a total time warp from car, to hat and shoes. Talk about a gentleman, Northwesty never veered from polish, courtesy and knowledge of all things 50s. It was fun to hear his many zany and sometimes dumb things people do and say in the process of selling, giving or exchanging vintage machines (scrap metal in some cases). We all got an update on his kitchen crew (kids) and some of the late breaking projects. I was very impressed with his steely reserve that belied a fun and happy spirit.

To all...

Tony and I had such a great time. Tony isn't a collector of appliances but on the way home he commented on just how much fun he had. Spoke of watching football and visiting with Lynn and how nice that was. I of course always have fun with Patrick and I was so excited to finally get to see Kelly again after WAY too long (Tucson '07 I believe).

Greg and Lynn were fantastic hosts in their beautiful home. That kitchen was huge and Greg and Kelly used every last inch of it! The food was incredible as was expected and the warmth of new friendships was worth the trip in itself. It was such a pleasure meeting Brun and Brian also. Two of the most soft spoken and nicest men anyone would ever meet and such wonderful experiences they shared with us. I truly hope to see all of you again. Our door is always open to you and especially the door to the basement (where all of the fun sprinklers and washers are).

Next time I think it's mine and Patrick's turn to do the honors so we'll work up a good time very soon. A GE dishwasher is just the beginning of what Patrick has in his collection. He collects so many different items and all are spectacular to see. It will be so fun to do this again.

Greg, enjoy the Hoover and thanks for taking it off our hands! If you liked the sprinklers I brought then I have more where those came from. :-)

Promise me we'll do this again very soon guys!

Jon

One Ringy Dingy

Dick Stevensen, Eddy and Jon have all referenced Pdub and when he called in his reservation I knew we were in for a treat. If you need someone to cast a cheery light and bring on the laughs at your next gathering, invite Brian. From the ground up in his humble Minnesota upbringing to the bucolic life in Beaverton there are tales, travels and a million laughs. I found my true twin when it comes to squeaky clean and everyone and everything in it's proper place. Brian is perhaps the easiest person in the world to strike up a conversation and feel like you've always known each other. Most importantly he's a Frigidaire hound and GM appliances course through my veins. I can't wait to get to Portland and pump out a load in one of the vintage Frigidaires. I once had a 63 Imperial set so I know that one will be the first. Thanks for coming, thank you for hauling up the Mobile Maid and bringing the smalls along. The coffee was great even if the assemblage was sure it would split in half and scald their grounds. I can't wait to head to Oregon. Make sure he laughs when you see him next, he has a prefect smile.

The Parent Trap

I was really looking forward to seeing Jon and Tony again. As a new outsider at my first washin the other newbies in the group became my running buddies. Jon and Tony were still on the East coast when we met but had plans to come West. Foolishly I have waited all this time to reconnect. It is refreshing to spend time with a couple who is so laid back, matter of fact and go with the flow. Greg invited them to bring Adolph the Arian Retriever who was on doggy uppers and zoomed under, over and around us all making for plenty of hijinks, laughs, near misses. Adolph was so good at cleaning up after us we hardly got a chance to bring out the vacuum. Lynn grudgingly agreed to play co host to a dog as long as it kept it's distance from him. Of course the dog snuck food from Lynn's plate, tried to climb up on his lap and relentlessly pestered him at the table. I'm not sure which was more entertaining, Adolph or Lynn's desperate attempts to escape. Jon and Tony brought the baby Kenmore and I made messes on purpose just so I could soil more kitchen linens for a full load. I was amazed at the quiet hush of the machine, the vigor of the agitation and how quickly it drained through the puny little unicouple. Planning to be on the road back to Portland by 10:00am they patiently waited while I watched every gurgle and splash of a full cycle. I loved the dog and used my powers of uber boredom to calm him down and give him long extended back massages in return for letting me eat all of my food myself.[this post was last edited: 10/11/2010-00:12]

The Golden Child

Did I say I love dogs and kids? Put them together and you get one zany dog still in his childhood. He tried running around with a paste on mustach and a lab coat but we knew right away he wasn't Duke.

When Words Fall Short

How does one manipulate the English vocabulary so that it adequately conveys appreciation to our wonderful hosts. From the first moment it was Greg who did all the work, offered the incredible setting and Lynn who dutifully helped, forebore and funded the event. They live just 3 minutes from Peter so I see Greg and I sneaking away to junk and play. I haven't yet been to Palm Springs and Greg and Lynn will show me the ropes and finest haunts of the Palm Desert. Greg completely opened his heart and cupboards to us all encouraging total freedom in finding and using anything they have. Lynn did all the photo editing, offered up his office and computer and burned discs for all of us to remember the weekend. Thank you both for wonderful friendship, hospitality and a lot of work and expense. You are the Bee's Knees.

Well, thanks for posting the additional pictures. Again it is a real pleasure to talk with other collectors, about restorations and finds, etc. Something I don't get to do every day. Again, the hopitality and food was fantastic. Thanks again.

I must say, the long awaited "wash - in" most certainly did NOT dissapoint! It was a day to remember. And I will.

What a pleasure to meet all of you. To echo what has been said so eloquently, it was a day of fabulous food, friendship, and fun! I truly hope to keep in contact with all of you. And one day, I would like to host here in Tacoma.

Keep in touch!

Brun
