$33 for shampoo & cut, $6 to stylist, $2 to shampooer.

I could probably find a less expensive place, but I've been seeing this stylist for 15 years, and for me to leave her would feel like I was cheating on a spouse.

As a life-long "hippie"(©,®,™)I am both shocked and offended at your lack of sensitivity! (not really ;-)

I must say, I've followed this thread with quite a lot of amusement.

I haven't cut or trimmed my hair since the late 1980s...the exact date escapes me.

I wear my hair in a neat braid that reaches to about 4 inches above my knee at this point...it's always clean, and I'm always "well-groomed and presentable" for public consumption...I just decided long ago that I would never cut my hair.

The whole "shaved head" and "crew cut" or "Dustin-Hoffman-in-Papillon-look" thing just puzzles me. When people who can actually GROW hair started shaving their heads on purpose and by choice I was just confused and incredulous. I still don't understand. Convenient? I guess so, but I guess I'm a product of my time, and I will always refuse to buckle to others' expectations of what I'm "supposed" to look like.

Thanks to all that have replied. I see there is a vast difference in the prices we pay. Our usual prices for mens cut run 15 - 20 dollars and women 20 - 25 dollars. My theory in life is to make 10 cents off from 10 people than 1 dollar off from one person. We keep our prices low enough that we are a very busy salon. Interesting answers I must say. Again thanks to all.

I have been going to the same person for almost ten years. She started with $8.00 and because of rising costs, she raised it to $10.00, plus a five dollar tip. She does such a nice job. I go once a month.She even did my Mom's hair. She only charges $38 for a perm, oops scratch that, now it is 40, rising costs you know

Old fashioned barber shop for me. I get a high and tight cut about once every 7-10 days. She charges me 12.00 and I give her a 5.00 tip. Speaking of getting my hair cut, I am due to get mine cut tomorrow afternoon! It is getting a little too long for my liking!
