Happy Birthday Bob!!!!
I have been meaning to post some local pictures that I
thought may be of interest to you. I must have had your birthday reference stored in my random access memory; Maybe
not the exact date, but every time I drive by the Nevada County Campus of Sierra College, I think of you.
Charles Litton Sr. had a facility here in Grass
Valley. I suppose he was bought out long before the Litton
Microwave Oven (one of your favorites, if I recall correctly)
became a reality. Anyhow, if you google 250 Sierra College
Dr. Grass Valley, Ca. 95945 ; you will be able to see his
original building. To the right of the turnabout is NCC of SC.
to the left is Litton Drive. I believe it ends at his
facility. At the top of the Satellite Image is Nevada Union
High School where I excelled academically in many disciplines,
during my late youth!!! I do know that when I was in high school, they were working on some top secret military stuff
still. Back in the day there was nothing on this entire hill,
but the Litton Building. I can't even remember where access
to the Litton Building originated, but most likely, it was from the bottom of the image where "East Main St" should be
clearly identified.
I have been meaning to drive up to the building and ask if they had any history that they would share that I could post
for you. I don't know how original the facility remains, but
I thought you might get a kick out of knowing that one of your
favorite brand of microwave ovens was a gleam in his/her Daddy's Eye mostly just Spittin' Distance from frontaloadotmy!!
Happy Birthday, Young Man!!! xo Darrel
