I wish everyone a happy and peaceful Easter and wish you all joy (and heaps of yummy easter eggs too!).

Cheers folks.
Steve.

XPISTOC ANESTI

Wishing all the hope, the love, the finding of one's path,
the forgiveness, the peace, the self-empowerment and the sense fo community that is the essence of this faith.

and let us not forget the symoblism of the Easter egg. Orignally they were painted red only. Red in that the animal who passes it sometimes experiences difficulty creating a new life;the eggs are sometimes blood-stained.

The egg symbolizes a new life waiting to emerge.

So the message is: Creating a new *GOOD*, *PROPER* life for yourself may be difficult, but it can be done.

Blessings to all of you!

Regardless of your religion, I hope you enjoy the peace, hope, and tranquility of Easter. It's the welcome harbinger of springtime; life's renewal.

Hi, I have to play the pipe organ for two church services, one at 6:30 and then at 10:30. Why we Methodists have to have a sunrise service is beyond me? We have a breakfast after the 6:30 service. Happy Easter to all. Gary

A very Happy Easter to everyone out there as well. May you all have a safe, happy, and blessed day. Terry

Gary,
You are a church organist too? When I used to work in the Catholic church, we used to call Holy Week (the week of Easter) Hell week. We had umpteen services. I'm so glad I work for the Unitarian/Universalist church now. Much easier services, good music is appreciated, and they actually sit quietly and listen to the prelude and postlude. My choir is another story! Good luck with your Easter music. Happy Easter/Passover to all!

Here's the easter bunny, Hooray! Here's the Easter Bunny, Hooray!

Ooooohhh one of these days, one of these days, one of these days.
(that's from a Bugs Bunny cartoon)

Happy Easter to all. I'm going to Tenessee tomorrow to see my honey.

He broke my wittle arm.

i was asked at work (large hotel) if i might be interested in wearing the Easter bunny costume, for the kiddies in the lobby. it surprised ME how much im looking forward to it! David

Jason,
I think you are the only other person that remembers that cartoon! It was funny as hell, with the gangster kid. I wanna Eastah egg, I wanna Eastah egg! And the Easter rabbitt, happy and gay! Loads o' laughs!
Bobby in Boston

I remember that cartoon, too! In fact, when I call a certain friend of mine, that's always the first thing out of my mouth!

Then he replies with something along the lines of "Ah yes, spwing, when the Easter Wabbit comes hopping mewwily down the bunny twail, then BWAMMO! Easter Wabbit stew!"

HI Bobby,Thanks for note back. Easter and Christmas are both hell week. I live in a rural town in Central Illinois. I have played for the Congregationalists at 6 in a town 11 miles away, made it back to the Methodist church for the 8 Christmas Eve service, sang a solo and then went to the Catholic Church and directed the choir at 10 for mass. What am I thinking? lol 6:30 and 10:30 this coming Sunday. Nap after that.lol We can share church stories if you wish. Bye for now. Gary

Yes, Happy Easter,

to those who keep it, Blessed Pesach to those who observe it, and Happy Spring to everyone!

Remember, the chocolate and jelly beans go on sale Monday, and unless there are those under 14 around, there's no reason to pay full price!

I participated in Maundy Thursday/Tenabrae this evening at church. I was a reader.

For the potluck, I took the Italian beef, and it went over pretty well. I also took a cabbage salad ("Chinese" Coleslaw,) and a plate of store cookies.

Nothing like an electric knife for slickly slicing the beef! Used my smaller (5 cup) KitchenAid processor to slice the cabbage.

Going to be an officiating Deacon on Easter, and assist in distributing the Communion elements. (I'll be 1 of 10.)

Organist-ing here too

During communion at the 6:30 am service, two hymns while choir and regular organist go to communion. I don't get to play very often anymore, but its fun when I do.
We have breakfast between services too!

*Chinese* Coleslaw

Is very easy, and pretty popular.

I got the recipe from Magic Clean, and tweaked it some.

3/4 cup mild oil (Canola or corn oil)

1/2 cup vinegar (I have used cider vinegar, it might be very good with plain rice vinegar.)

2 tablespoons (or more) soy sauce. I use the Kikkoman green label.

1/3- 1/2 cup sugar.

I adjust this every time I make it. Most times I want it on the lightly sour edge of sweet and sour.
So, I use a little less sugar, and a bit more vinegar.

I like to combine this in a small non-reactive (usually Farberware) saucepan and heat it JUST until the sugar is fully dissolved. Not much over 115F. Remove it to a heat proof surface. Don't leave it on the element.

In very large bowl:

2 pounds red cabbage, shredded. (Cut out the stem-stump). I use the Medium slicing disk.

Some use green cabbage, and it's ok, tasty even, but just not as pretty!

4-5 green onions-scallions-spring onions. Cut off the darker green tops, and the roots. Remove outer layer, if need be, or desired. Slice medium-thin (easiest with a knife and cutting board.)

1/2- 3/4 cup slivered almonds, toasted
(Yes, I blanch whole almonds, and sliver them with a paring knife and cutting board. I like the look better than factory done slivered almonds, though they're perfectly all right.)

Same amount of sunflower seeds, also toasted.
(I just get a small bag of each from the baking aisle in the market.)

I do this by sauteing the almonds in some butter, give them a head start, of a few minutes. The almonds should be beginning to brown, and then throw in the sunflower seeds for a minute or so, until they smell good. Stir, stir, stir! Remove to a cool, yet heat resistant surface. They will over-toast if they remain in the skillet. I just scrape them out onto a clean room temperature plate.

2 packets ramen noodles, remove flavour packet, set aside for other use. Crumble the noodles, in a not too big, not too small sort of way.

In a large, preferably clear bowl, combine cabbage, onions, almonds and sunflower seeds, and the crumbled ramen noodles. Clean hands works fastest, and maybe easiest.

Pour on the dressing, stir, and chill.

Keeps nicely, covered in the fridge for a day or two, or until gone.

Oriental Salad

This is just a little different that the one listed above, in that is uses broccoli slaw which can be found in the produce section. Some of my friends like to make this for Easter also.
Oriental Salad

1 cup sunflower seeds
1 cup silvered almonds (roasted)
16oz. pkg. broccoli slaw
1 green onion chopped
2 pkgs. Chicken flavored Ramen noodles

Combine all salad ingredients ( Do not do until ready to serve).

Dressing:

1/3 cup rice vinegar
½ cup sugar
¾ cup safflower oil
2 seasoning packets from the Ramen noodles

Combine the dressing ingredients with the seasoning packets from the Ramen noodles. Pour over salad and mix when ready to serve.

ENJOY!

Happy Easter to everone.

Re: My Greetings:

"Happy Easter" to one and all. I've been thinking about this Weekend and Easter almost being here and not really doing well. I've been thinking about Saddness that it was bringing to me, instead of Happiness, because of Easter, April 15, 1990 is when Gary & I met and started our Lives together {later on that Friday}.

I had an E-Mail from a Dear Friend, who told me that I should remember the wonderful Gift that I got that day of meeting Gary and what a wonderful Relationship we had for 10-years together. They told me that I should try to remember all the great times we had together, places we went, things we did, Relatives/Friends that we shared times with as well and our time together.

It is quite difficult for me, since I lost my Parent's and Gary, within a few years of each other and I'm the only Relative still living here. The rest of my Family is scattered all over California and a few other States, of what we have left and I think that is another reason of my feeling like I do, is because I really miss all the great times we all had, when all the Families got together for these Special Occasions and Holidays. Us Kids would play together, while the Grown-Ups would visit before our Meal-Time and we would continue after, as loong as we were able to be together, until everyone parted to go back home.

Anyway, I wish each and all a wonderful Weekend and a "Happy Easter" and here's to Happy Times for everyone, with Families/Friends that we have still to be with.

Peace, Easter Blessings and Hugs, Steve

I guess I could add, my voice was the very first musical note sounded after the first reading and I vocally began the end too, with my favorite rocker--have been known to be a combo Jerry Lee Lewis/Elton John at times

Kinda bittersweet, we're getting new hymnals--I won't be able to be on autopilot anymore after doing so for 12 years.
