If anybody would like let’s post pictures of our roast turkeys and what we roasted them in.

Or any other cooking related things we did for Thanksgiving be sure to post the appliance and how it performed.

I’ll be roasting a 16 pound turkey in the gas micro convection caloric range I’ll post pictures later after the bird comes out.

Thanksgiving 2022 - Ft. Lauderdale

Decided to carry on a tradition of a large gathering where I cook everything. This way I know how to space plan and know that the quantities are correct. It was fun and we laughed and ate until we hurt. I am slap ass tired.

Thank you John:

Happy Thanksgiving to you as well. We went to Brunch st the Minnesota Horse and Hunt Club south of Prior Lake with my folks today where the Turkey was cooked outside in a smoker. The prime Rib was slow cooked overnight in an Alto-Shamm Cook and Hold oven to perfect medium rare. Dishes washed in a double rack low temp (uses LCB to sanitize, no booster heater) pass through dishmachine leased from Ecolab.

Today turkey soup

Cook the turkey last night let it cool outside on the porch took it apart added a couple bags of beans, bunch of celery whole bag carrots they were all pre-cooked in the pressure cooker to soften them up.

Added 4 quarts of home canned tomatoes about 6 cups of mashed potatoes left over seasoned and ready to go.

The bones from the 16 pound turkey took 90 seconds to go down the drain with 3 gallons of water.

This is one of the KitchenAid/national disposers it will grind up bones like nobody’s business.

Re: Reply #3

Mike you table looks beautiful! I believe that your floral centerpiece arrangement is very similar if not the same as the arrangement that David ordered for our Thanksgiving table from Telaflora.

Also that cake in photo #5 looks delicious! My guess is that it either a Hummingbird Cake or a Carrot Cake? I’ll bet your guests thoroughly enjoyed the lovely Thanksgiving feast that you prepared for them.

I’ve included a photo of our floral centerpiece so you can see the similarity.

Centerpieces

Hey Eddie! That’s it! It’s identical. I borrowed it from the condo management office when I saw it delivered..lovely arrangement.

Our building is on the beach and while it was one of the first high rise buildings in Lauderdale, after the disaster in Miami/Seaside they are really becoming very cautious and requiring much construction for buildings especially buildings close to the shore.

Our building is so over engineered and completely passed all inspections. Then it was decided to remove all balconies and replace. Many of the balconies are enclosed and replacing will be expensive and time consuming…annnnnd they came to me advising they would be beginning the demo several days before our Friendsgiving dinner.

I had 20 people coming for dinner in a construction zone! We have a restaurant and lounge for residents and guests that was going to be closed on the 22nd. I took over the lounge and tried to recreate the original idea, just twenty stories below. We schlepped and schlepped all damn day. Joe was ready to call a caterer and I insisted we keep to tradition. We kept those service elevators humming.

Yes, that cake is a coconut cake that I make every holiday season. The other dessert was a pineapple cheesecake soufflé. I purchased some small plastic containers for people to take leftovers. Joe and I had to catch a 6:00am flight to NY and Would not be able to enjoy leftovers this year.

Truly my favorite holiday. Again, your arrangement is beautiful!

Re: Reply#10

Boy Mike what’s going on with your condo sounds like an HOA nightmare! I hope that you have a responsible HOA board of directors. The expense that will be incurred in the removal of the balconies is certainly something that wouldn’t have been included in your Reserve Study and could likely require a huge Special Assessment for every owner. If you don’t regularly attend your HOA board meetings I would suggest that you begin doing so. Thats the only way you’re gonna be able to keep abreast of what all of you may be facing financially.

I’ve been on my HOA board of directors for 27 years and I feel for all the owners of your HOA and especially the BOD, they are gonna have their hands full.

Best of luck!
