I need a couple of items that seem to be hard to find now days.  I went to 5 stores today in search of good old traverse rod  sliders.  You know the white nylon things that you put the hooks in?  Went to Lowe's, Target, Kmart, Joanne fabrics, Bed bath and Beyond and Meijer, no luck.  I was cleaning in my dining room and I have sheer or sheer draperies with the under sheer on a traverse rod who's sliders are disintegrating,  It's just a standard Kirsch rod, but for some reason the sliders are breaking.  i pulled a number off them off a 60 year old rod and they are still in good shape, they must have change manufacturing processing the early 80's.  These were always an item you could get just about anywhere.

The other item I need is more obscure.  My china cabinet is by Heritage-Henredon and it has 4 glass panels that are held in with spring loaded metal clips with rubber feet.  You guessed it -over the years the rubber deteriorated and I can't find anything similar anywhere.  They look like the rubber feet on some of my trivets. but I have no clue where to get replacements.

Anyone have any suggestions?

walmart has them here there in a small bag 98 cents you get 6 of them. I had to buy some last week.

J C Penney is the best bet for drapery hardware.  As for your china cabinet glass clips I would suggest taking one to a high-end furniture refinishing shop or cabinet-hardware supplier to see if they can track down replacements.  Failing that, try an interior design studio that sells Henredon furniture and see if their rep can track down the parts or an appropriate substitute.

If I was still working at Dayton's/Marshall Field's Home Store (if Macy's hadn't taken over) I could have made a couple phone calls and had the parts you need on their way to you in the mail.  If you had purchased the window coverings and furniture from Dayton's I could have even had someone from our shop install them for you.  It's too bad that customer service like that is becoming a thing of the past.

I knows the feeling.. just try and find a pair of pinch pleat drapes off the rack.. they don't exist anymore.

Not quite sure about spring loaded clips but couldn't you just fashion new rubber "feet" for it out of GE Silicone or something?

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll hit Penny's tomorrow.

I might end up using some of those sticky rubber nubs you can buy for cutting boards and such.  At this point I'm using 2 or 3 clips out of 8.  The "feet" are about 1/2" long with a hole in the center for the metal rod to go into, the hole only goes partially through.

Henry, I too worked for Dayton Hudson for many years.  I too really miss the service.  The designer at our local store worked with my mom and when I started working there we got to know each other well.  It got to the point all I had to do was tell her generally what I wanted and when I got there she had pulled 90% of the stuff correctly.  When I was building homes I had her do all the interiors, always got great comments.  I started in electronic sales and left from corporate, It was a good company to work for.
