Has anyone tried Sun-Pine cleaner?

I gave it a try one time; I wasn't happy. The stuff I used smelled like Pine-Sol, but the primary ingredient seemed to be water. It sure didn't clean like Pine-Sol. I find that "watering down" to be true of a lot of dollar store products. It's not that they don't use the same ingredients as the more expensive brands, they just seem to use less of them, LOL.

But some dollar store/bargain stuff works very well, so this isn't a blanket indictment. Bissell's oven cleaner (sold at Big Lots) is very good, and a third the price of national brands. I like Sun laundry products (made by Huish), but there are those who don't. And just because one product made by a company is great, it doesn't seem to mean that they all are. That Bissell oven cleaner works fine, but I'm not crazy about their furniture polish, to put it politely.

I say give stuff a whirl- hey, it's usually only a dollar. You can generally find some use for stuff that doesn't work out well. That dud furniture polish worked out decently well when I used it to polish up my computer, as an anti-static measure- I finally got my buck's worth out of it.

Re Sun Pine

I have my own house cleaning business. I usually buy my supplys at K Mart but I went to Big Lots and bought that cleaner and was not happy with it! My cliants all complained about the smell of it. It was a very heavy pine and did not do a good job on the wood work and floors.
I would recommend that you try Pine Sol lemon. very nice and goes a good job and every one likes the sent. Safe Way pine cleaner is also good. I stay away from the Fabuloso cleaners way too stinkey too. hope this helps you.

Sun Pine cleaner...

yes, I thought it was awful to be honest. I never return things I buy, but with this product, I took it back for a refund.
I prefer Clorox CleanUp for general household cleaning and I love Spic and Span powder for my tile floor in the kitchen.
For the wood floors, I usually use Murphy's Oil Soap..even though our cleaning lady says "Just use white vinegar"..yuk!

"our cleaning lady says "Just use white vinegar"..yuk!"

White vinegar is fine and good on a well-wrung damp mop if the floor is basically clean (under one week since last cleaning), but forget about it if any more time goes by....then, it's time to trot the oil soap or even clear ammonia, if it's appropriate for the finish of the wood floor.

The Pledge squirt-and-mop products are phenomenal but expensive, and who needs to pay more than necessary to mop the floors?

Vinegar is a fabulous cleaner but, IMHO, a lot of people overuse it when it's not sufficient to get a good job done.

"It's sold at the dollar stores. I want to know how it smells and performs."

I've never found any of the dollar store pine cleaners to be worth the bother.

The best ones are mid-priced at the supermarket. Shop Rite's disinfectant, for example, is made by Brondow (the "Breath O' Pine" folks) and it's 19.9% pine oil. You need much less product then Pine Sol or other pine cleaners with a lesser pine oil concentration to work with, on a practical basis.

An amazing product that's way too expensive but is nice to break out for a treat is Ecover's Floor Soap, an oil soap that contains linseed oil like the Scandanavian wood cleaners. It has an ingredient that leaves a natural shine without any buildup whatsoever, EVER. I use it on ceramic, terrazzo, etc. without it leaving any hint of slipperiness behind!

An awesome product at the dollar store is "RENEW" floor cleaner, which is a transparent, colorless formula for floors that contains a small amount of ammonia but has a light fragrance. The directions claim it is effective on woodwork as well, and I'll test this after summer is over. It's made by the Pine Glo people and really is a good deal for a buck.

"I love Spic and Span powder for my tile floor in the kitchen."

I used to love this one as well, but IMHO, the product hasn't been the same since P&G sold it off....

I find another use for products that I'm disappointed with, too! For example, I like to try different pine cleaners, but if I don't like one, I only use it to clean my trash cans. If it smells terrible, I toss it out. I won't use a pine cleaner that smells bad.

oxydolfan1, You are so right...

about Spic and Span being reformulated. And, so have a lot of other classic products and fragrances. I have been on so many discussion forums where people always complain about this. What really gets me is the way the companies act as though no one will know the difference. Please!!! They want consumers to think these products are exactly the same but more often then not they aren't!
