Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Great shots Chris! Congratulations on the job and thanks for sharing.

All Maytags before the shredder stroke make waves. That is why even the wringer washers had tubs that curve over at the top. It has to do with the four agitator fins and the speed and the length of the stroke. The square tubs do it just like the round tubs. What's funny is how little the items in the load seem to be affected by the rocking of the water. They are sort of doing their thing and the water is doing its thing, but they do not rock back and forth. I wonder if you checked the water level at the beginning of the wash in the AMP and at the end if it would show how much, if any, sloshes over the top of the non-perforated tub.

Hi Chris, It sure looks like you did a great job. Have fun with your new toy. What else do you have to do with this machine? Terry

shes my pet

this one is gonna be the pamperd baby well not like the rest arnt ha ha..in the handle on the lid there is a slide that sets the water level thought that was a clever way to hide it..while it was running i took some car wax and waxed the body and for the orig paint it sure looks good.. now she need a name..

Glad that you liked it Chris. Remember to send some pictures when you are all done with her. I always loved the way that badge lights up on the front!! Terry

Wow Chris, Mabel is quite the looker! I've always felt that Mabel was a great name for an early Tag Auto. Great to see it running like a top.

Bob - those are the slotted screw heads you see there, they hold the inner perf basket to the outer solid tub.

Chris I am so happy to see Mabel and you working it out. You sure have done her right, but she was in better than fair shape when she left here. Again a result of good storage and the frugalness of us South Dakotans. I know what you mean about her quietness. That 1st time I ran electricity to her and set it on spin I couldnt tell right away that it was spinning. Just was getting a small electical buzzing noise but I lifted the lid and whalla!!! it was mechanical hum, not eletrical buzz. Im very happy that it agitated and worked well. I really had no worries. Its really looking good now and I think Mabel is the perfect name. So how about a shot of you guys together? And some shots of those great illustrations in the book? And mostly a shot of that lit up badge if you gotten that far yet. ID really like to see that.

cute little book

tells all the dirty secrets, you know like how to sort ect, and even has a page just for him. just letting the man in your life know that the machine has great features like a saftey switch in the lid and that it has a clutch and a seal power unit (trans)...to cute.

Hey Chris,

Thanks for posting the adtional pictures! I really like that style of lighted nameplate on the A2MP/A3MP. And you even have the owner's manual for it too! I was wondering what the cover would be like for this model - if the just revised the previous AMP manual, or a completely redone cover. And I see that the matching dryer at one time may have sat next to this washer! What's the story on this machine. Have you had it for a while?

A dream pair - matching AMP washer/Condenser dryer. Enjoy!

my dream machine too

hey ben.. lee in south dakota had found me a pink westy dryer last year and have been chatting with him ever since.. hes a good guy..anyway he is in the process of moving and had this machine sitting out on his deck, and when i found that out i wrote him and said me me! if you ever want to part with it let me know, and he did.. this is the first machine i ever wanted and have waited the longest to find. and of all the machines it was in the best shape. how cool is that

Chris - I remember when Lee posted the dryer. I just saw it again in your photo album. This machine makes a great adition to your very nice collection.

Maybe sometime when I'm in St. Louis, I'll have to stop by and see the fun!

the badge and the book

totally awesome I just knew that badge would look great lit up!!! Weird like seeing a celebrity sighting before they got famous....lol. I love that book too....Love the chauvenism in it!! Theyd get sued for that today hahah

I just saw a manual almost exactly like it on ebay only in tourquiose blue. Actaually I think I saw it on a link here but anyway until I saw yours again I hadnt made the asscociation of redbook...red agaitator, blue book....blue agitator. ANYone care to make a comment on this? Was it done on porpose or just a freak happening? My own thoughts? Planned marketing all the way.Still funny tho so much thought put there and not any reguard to offending the sexes....well it was a different time.Love to hear what others think.
