A mere seven out of how many members here?
Methinks the summertime pix threads that appeal to the non-prudes amongst us won't get an inch of traction this year.
I can smell targeted abuse of this new policy from 2,000 miles away.

I don't think the intention of that report the post function was to flag anything that you don't agree with.
Now I don't personally agree with some of what Keven says, but I do feel that we're all adults and should be able to disagree and still be cordial.
It's surprising that none of the members that found this post offensive bothered to comment here what the issue was.

I wasn't aware of saying anything offensive, but if he feels I did, than I must have.
Obviously, some of us are going to be targets for heightened scrutiny by certain cliches in our happy little family but that doesn't mean I might still have said something I shouldn't have.

First of all just because I didn't restore a post within a certain amount of time don't just go and assume I agree with the deletion, we have company this weekend and the web-site is low priority, that is part of the beauty of members being able to tag posts for me.
In looking back at what was posted I don't believe that anything that was posted in the actual text was offensive but I suspect the problem was all in the title. While the language used isn't specifically bad it is obviously in poor taste. A lot of people really like this web site and want to see it treated with respect. Again this is only a guess on my part, I haven't spoke to the "clickers" and I have no plan on doing that. With that said my decision on this post is that it stays deleted. Keven if you want you might try posting your thread again in a much more respectful way.

Since I implemented this system only three things have been removed (all in the super forum). All three I agree with, the first was because the person was suggesting that everyone flag "a certain persons" post. The second was for disrespectful language again. So far I see absolutely no sign of abuse so far and I certain appreciate the help.

the real purpose was to delete a thread that would be offensive, derogatory, or the discrimination of a race, color, sex, or general status meant to hurt someones pure existence.....
I'm glad to have a place to discuss many subjects among friends, washers and the such are great, but sometimes you have an isue and would like some input from the members.....and as long as it's kept as civil as possible, we are all curious as to the thoughts of others....
but to delete any thread because of individual personal reason is not enough....
I just the same did not even get to read the thread and it was removed....maybe we need to know why it was deleted by such person
if it was a pic of a hot maytag repairman with a buttcrack,
if offended, your choice would be click out of the thread, and don't look.....
if it was demeaning to a person, then we would all agree that this was not appropriate, and not wanted here, and the offender would get the message

I have found a great many posts/threads questionable just as many have found mine to be the same.
What irks me is rigidity of thought. Things such as: "This group is this and that group is that" and its MY WAY OF THINKING OR ELSE. uh, no. Also, once I hear politics it's a knife in my heart. UGH!
I didn't cry to the webmaster about anyone or anything. How could I in light of my track-record?
I did through once ask for some posts to be deleted because the orignal poter asked me nicely to cool it, to keep the thread "classy".
I will probably never report anyone. The rest of the world can sit in judgement, goissip and be cruel, I won't knowingly if I can help it.

Me third. I've never and would never report a post from an established member, but I would report an obvious attempt from a new member to spam or troll the forum.

Clearly, not one of the seven cowards who 86'd Keven's thread owns a pair.
I think the flagging attempts need to appear as posts so that those behind them have to go public, otherwise as I stated above, there is huge potential for certain members' posts to be targeted for flagging abuse. Unfortunately we have some vindictive types among us here and abuse of power is going to result as long as they don't have to show themselves.

This is a site full of men who like to pull machines apart and get their fingernails dirty doing it. I'll wager that the number of members who were not offended in any way by the title is exponentially larger than that of those pathetic few who were, and who do indeed need to either grow a pair or move forward with their gender reassignment surgeries.

The new system requires seven flags from seven different people, so it's not a question of one person manipulating the system.
There is a provision for the person whose post has been deleted to appeal.
And we're all guests at Robert's internet party anyway, so it behooves us to conduct ourselves as good guests, including taking our host's hint that enough of something might be enough.
Unless everyone wants Robert to issue a set of hard-edged rules that explicitly state what's acceptable and what's not, and enforce them rigidly, it seems to me we have a system that will work reasonably well. Everyone here should thank their lucky stars that Robert is not a rules-and-regulations freak.

It was formulated for a reason; these are volatile topics that will, sooner or later - and probably sooner - cause discord. In this brave new world we inhabit, why can't we have the sense that people had a hundred years ago, instead of insisting on some right to offend others?

AW is one of a relative few forums on the internet that's not policed by a resident group of right-wing fanatic users and moderators. IMO we should support any solution Robert deems best.
