The washing machine that means the end- the end of washday!

A VERY early 3226 Keymatic- still with the cabinet and door gasket of the 3224!

Apart from the (surface) rust its not too bad actually :)

The door gasket is beyond help tho :(- not suprising as its the original blue version!

Ok how did I come by this ..

Basically a very elderly couple came in and brought a Hoover washer dryer to replace a broken Hoovermatic twin tub.

They asked if they could use the washer dryer from the tap and I said it wasnt advisable, even if we could get a appropiate adaptor.

Thats a pity- we did with the last one they said......

Thats because it was a twin tub I said....

No before that- we had a Keymatic....

At this point I said its a pity it was replaced with a twin tub , If it had been the Keymatic Id have loved to have seen it as I collect old appliances.......

Well we didnt get rid of it- its been stood in the corner of the kitchen for about 20 years, it dosent work tho...

At this point I nearly wet myself lol......

Anyhow I was asked if id like it and obviously said yes!

Looking forward to making it pretty again :)

P.s The Hoovermatic and another mystery machine will be collected tuesday- If the mystery machine is a MK41 Servis its already spoken for lol!!

Wow! Seamus! You lucky guy! That is amazing how you ended up with that! do u think u'll be able to restore it? I bet parts are rare! I've always wanted to see one of these in action!

Congrats again!

Oh. My. God!!!

Congratulations, Seamus, that's just fantastic!!! Couldn't have gone to a better home! I'm so pleased for you, fancy that, there was a KM in Dover all the time!

Is the pulsator missing? Did the couple give any idea as to why the machine expired? I really hope you can get the old girl up and running again, have you had a poke round the insides yet?

I noticed from my 3226 brochure that yours has a different facia too, later ones were black instead of blue.

Can't wait to see what model the HM is, have they given you any idea as to the ID of the mystery machine - top loader, horizontal axis? I presume it's another automatic?

Either way, that's definitely a find of the year, and we're not even halfway through January yet! Bring on the widebodies and matchboxes!!!

Hey Mate

I didnt even notice the Pulsator as it was pretty dark when I was taking the pics- I believe some were modified to tumble action only and it looks like this one may have been!.

Its defiantly a very early 1963 version, Im gonna get the serial number when I investigate further on Monday(its at work).

All in all a great addition- especially as it was free!
