HDE906 dryer

I'm new to the group. I wouldn't mind some insight as to why my DE906 dryer shuts down prematurely.
The cabinet is grounded.
The electronic control works correctly since the add-on times are as follows:
pressing "damp dry" - dryer shuts off in 7 - 9 seconds
pressing "regular" - dryer shuts off 7 - 11 minutes (approx)
pressing "perm press"-dryer shuts off in 15 - 17 min (approx)
The problem is the dryer works the same with wet laundry.
It's like the dryer sees wet clothes as being dry and goes right to the "add-on" time.
I've got manuals somewhere but I was hoping for some advice.
I thought the cabinet not being grounded resulted in the dryer not shutting off. Therefore I'm thinking this problem stems from an open somewhere in the slip-ring circuit and the capacitor starts charging right away.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

EARLY SHUT DOWN ON ELECTRONIC HOH DRYER

Yes you may have an open circuit in the baffle back to the electronic control. Most likely place would be the brush and slip ring area but it could be other places as well. Some one here probably has a copy of the MT electrical testing guide it explains how to test and correct this problem. This is usually much easier to fix than the ones that just don't want shut off at all as the electronic control is working fine.

At least of what I consider important (drums, tubs, agitators, and of course, The Control Panel!)

Interesting, though: No water level control (not even a slide-bar I thought would infinitely adjust water to the size of the load & be only exclusively available on such a flagship model) & who would have ever thought of a Tub Light in a Top-Loading Washer?

Didn't see a drum light in the dryer though... It's in the lint filter in the back of the drum, right? Where did it go when the filter moved up front in later models? (I once saw a newer Maytag that at least had a florescent-lit control panel & still just the one knob, w/ an up-front lint filter but didn't think about a lighted drum...)

And one more thing: A SPRINKLER? Now how would THAT work in something that is supposed to DRY clothes?! Wouldn't it use WATER?! (Not too safe, there...)
