My work is sending me to Dallas the week of May 8th for training on a new video wall system we will be installing. Irving texas to be exact. Maybe, after class I can meet up with some of you folks that live around there for a mini wash-in or something?

Texas is a big place ....

Come on down.

Appnut in Temple might be the closest. I'm about 5.5 hrs from Irving. WestTexasMan in Lubbock is 5 hrs. WestyTopLoader in Bellville is 4.75 hrs. BrettSomers in San Antonio is 4.5 hrs. Did I miss anybody?

(travel times based on MapQuest)

gee you missed me Glenn

:-(

Big D is 4 hours north of Houston. I've made it in 2.5 hours tho, with a good radar detector, LOL

I'm 5 Hours Away -

But head that direction for work sometimes. I've heard they have this cool laundromat with a bar attached in Dallas. Might be fun to see. Could possibly have a mini wash-in there. LOL

Tex

Unfortunately, I'm "commute" challenged and have to rely on the kindnesss of neighbors or whatever lol. I do get frustrated, especially with Texas geography and our wonderful contingent. We're so close and yet so far away. :-(

Nothing like

I got an airhorn in my truck now....to BLAST those slow drivers who don't know what a blinker is for. Makes me feel good, and I don't waste all the muscles in my middle finger, nor rant and curse. Nice solid inconspicuous blast, and it's rather funny to see them look around to see where it came from.

I am honestly thinking of getting a bull horn (mega-phone), just for this same purpose. (One that comes with the siren)

Glenn, honestly, I am a VERY good driver. I have taken Defensive Driving like 6 times ;-) Yes, I have a lead foot...yes, I drive fast most of the time. Only to get out of the way of all the idiots who crawl and brake every 2 seconds...

Sorry for the RANT....

Maria Andretti

PS: Hope your commute today was safe...OY, the storms we had early this morning. Heard Bellville was without power!

My friend Debbie had some odd damage to a tree. A large branch came off, the bark on one side stripped all the way down, and there's a big crack now in the tree (see Pic #4).

Glenn, that looks a lot like lightning damage.

Bellville was without power for 5 hours, from 5-10!! Finally came back on around 10, but the schools were much earlier due to TAKS testing (standardized tests are absolutely POINTLESS, thank God 11th grade is the last year!).

Our street still looks pretty bad, but Mom cleaned up the frontyard today and I'm getting ready to fire up the chainsaw and tackle the back. Part of a big tree came down in the back. Will post a few pictures if interested.

Had to be lightning Glenn...
It was quite a show of lights this morning.

Toggles....you kill me too! LOL

They suspect a lightning strike, but there are no obvious scorch marks.

I was awakened at about 5:30 when it blew through here. Heard a few pellets of hail at one point. No damage other than the armillary blown off its pedestal. Power blinked once. I'm sure the yard is rejoicing at the moisture! Stopped to fetch a prescription at a strip mall on way to work. Noticed part of a sign down in front of the pharmacy, but it isn't from their sign, couldn't find from where it came.

Post some pics Austin

We had no where near those kinds of winds here. But my friend south of here (Liverpool) said it was pretty bad out her way.

Glenn, that reminds me off when Hurricane Alicia hit. We had this drive-in in SOHO (South Houston, now renamed El Barrio de la Mexicanos) that had a really cool flying saucer with a space alien in it. Huge. Had been there since the early 60's. Was "THE" place to be, and be seen on Fri-Sat. nights. After Alicia came thru, that little green Alien man with the pointed ears was gone! Never to be found. The Spaceship was still sitting on the pole though.

Well glad all is safe, and only trees destroyed. We still need more rain.

Well, I thought Tuesday night was bad--a steeple blown off a very nice church here and gust up to 40 mph. My power flickered off & on. And very scarey lightening. Last night was worse. gust up to 60 mph; lots of lightening; rain; several mobile homes torn apart by the winds and other damage around town.

ONLY 40 mph????

Have you ever been to WEST TEXAS? That is an everyday occurance from about February to mid-April. What's even worse is when the sand is blowing so bad and we start to get a little rain... it starts raining MUD!
