Well I found out why my 806 was agitating so slowly at the beginning of the cycle. There is something wrong with motor mount (yes Ben, you had already told me this lol). If i pull back on the motor (diagonally away from the center) the agitation picks right up. If I let it return, the speeds drops and the "groaning" noise that some noticed in the full cycle vid returns. So I decided to simply tie the motor back. BAD IDEA. It worked great for the agitation, but i totally forgot that a helical drive motor needs to move on the track to provide clutch action for the spin cycle. So now I'm back to square one.

Here's a picture of my very brief set up. Also here's a video showing the play in the motor. Hopefully you guys will be able to tell if this amount is normal or not. What do you think I should do to permanently fix this?

You need to replace your motor glides and springs, possibly your belts as well. These parts are still all available.

Jed - as Liam said, rebuild the mount. The rollers are still available, as well as the belts.

Eventually the transmission will need a rebuild. See Geoff Delp's recent post on his A700 so you have an idea of what the procedure is.

Just put one of these back on the road yesterday. Lid switch was shot. I made the same mistake by tying back the motor. But what I found was my motor going into thermal overload. To much tension on belt. I love this old machine. About the only Maytag washer I will fool with. I run from the others.
