Hello everyone,

what a surprise to find this group!. I didn't know such a useful group existed with so many threads all full of knowledge and enthusiasm about appliances!.

I have an AEG 76810 washing machine in my kitchen, it was there when I moved in. I don't know how old it is, but it washes clothes very well. When I came to this house I was going to put my own Miele W487 in the kitchen, but I had trouble disconnecting the stuck on water pipes that I didn't want to force as they are so old they may break.
That was several years ago and my Miele has sat stored in the garage along with the dryer stacked above it since.

I have been using this AEG Lavamat now 3+ years and something I like very much about it - it is Not At All " Eco" - it uses lots of water!. every wash cycle and rinse program that I choose has high water levels halfway up the door and I *think* that could be why the clothes come out beautifully clean and fresh!.

I really dislike all this " eco " so called green machines!.

I want a " RED " machine!

Does anyone else think the same or is it just me?

thank you repairguy!.

I would like to buy an American style top loader but we just don't get them here, plus the voltage is wrong for uk 240v.

Iv seen top loaders in Australia but trying to organise the transportation from Australia to Uk would be a headache I think. So if I was to do it, it would need to be reliable, I can't have a foreign to the uk machine that kept breaking down and needing non existent parts!.

Which top loading machine do you find to be reliable, uses bIg full tubs of water for washing, is quiet but gives a good rigouress and powerful washing action, I don't wear ladies clothes that need gentle washing, I want powerful movements in the tub that really clean the clothes well.

and a reasonably fast spin of 1000+ rpm.

kind regards,

Myelle

This is a wonderful site that provides different backgrounds and opinions, and perspectives. Most all input is fairly good, if not excellent. Looking forward to yours as well from across the pond.

British & Australian Top Loaders

Welcome Myelle

There are still a few Hotpoint top loaders knowking around. I also have an Australian top loader that I am looking to move on - nothing wrong with it but I now have to operate on the principle "one in - one out". Contact me on the email in my profile if interested.

Actually you had-have a tons of 240v 50hz exported models for EU and AU market as well as Africa Asia and parts of latin America.

And if you surf eBay I am sure you will find one.

In UK there is always something available on there lots of WP direct drive and Maytag-ish admiral washers.
