Hey gang, a new thread today as I'm causally interested on learning more about the "Hoover Computer Control" machines. I know little about them & I know some of you own these machines in your collection so would be nice to build a profile on it.

Thanks all, Hass.

From Oovah - Who Better...

lol it seems to be your favourite phrase Mike, love it when you mention it when a Hoover Thread is done. Thanks for uploading the pictures.

My next question is, when these machine into the production line & were they first computer machines for Hoover? How many of you guys own this machine in your collection?

Looking forward to further posts...

Lovely computer controls

I didn't know anyone of us had one in black! Can I ask Mike is that the one what was on eBay a couple of years back with the badly worn off paint on the control panel?

If so it's had a lovely paint job!

Would kill for one of these myself!

Matt

Hello Seamus...

Ace, do you get to use it often or is it stored away? Regarding the Oovah Ad, it's a pleasure. It's one of my favourites.

Whilst on the subject on adverts, if you guys seen the Computer Control advert for Ariel/Hoover, they also did a repeat of the same ad a year or two later Only this time they were showing the Hoover Logic. I've provided the link below encase you guys wanted to see it.

Did Hoover always advertise with Persil Seamus? You've got me interested too now, why did Hoover swap with Ariel? If anyone can elabrate on this subject, would be great :)

Cheers,
Hass.

Hoover (Liberator) Washing Machine...?

Hello guys, please excuse me for any confusion for my latest post as I didn't want inidate you all by starting another thread seeing "Oovah" is still the subject. Anyhow, I mostly spent the whole weekend spening my time on AW.ORG going through the "Hoover" threads & came across this picture. A Hoover (Liberator)? Can anyone give us a little insight to this machine. Guessing Hoover went into competition around the same time as Hotpoint/Zanussi Liberators?

Plus if anyone can reply to the above questions would be great too...

Thanks gang,
Hass.

Hoover Compter Control

Hi Matt, yes I have all three colours and yes this was the one that all the paint had peeled off the dispenser drawer, dont know what it was but you only needed to touch it and it came off, it had been sited next to a cooker so it could have been the heat / grease etc, it didnt look like a spray etc..Looked good without the paint as well!!

Hoover 480 Liberator

Hass

Not so much a Liberator, more of a Zanussi! It is easy to get confused though as more or less the same machine was badged by Hotpoint as a BOL model (1826?) in the mid to late 1970s. If you check back into (Matchbox)Paul's most excellent thread on the time line of the Hotpoint liberators models you will see it there. But it is still a Zanussi.

Who knows why Hoover had to put this machine out into the German market, you would think they could have produced enough in South Wales. However Hoover did have a long association with Zanussi as the first Autojet and Superjet Dishwashers (with the rotating racks) and virtually all their fridges and freezers from the mid 1960s onward (when they first sold fridges etc) were also produced by Zanussi

Hi Hass.

It seems that if you wanted a robust and solid low end of the range machine in the 1970s, then you went to Zanussi.

As well as Hotpoint with their 1823 and 1826 models, Hoover also knowcked at the italian door. Quite what part of Hoover commissioned the Zanussi models, I dont know, but they were definitely only sold on the continent and never made it to these shores.

AEG also commissioned Zanussi to produce its lower end models too....
