Back to the Computer Control....

Here are a couple more preserved machines.

First off is mine and Rob's A3308 Computer Control 1100, dating from June 1985....

The A3308 was the second version of CC-1100 and adopted the white fascia. Thankfully the fascia was a hard paint finish on metal surface, so doesnt 'go off' to a cream colour, though the plastic buttons do have a tendency to yellow.

Video of our machine linked below...

the 1st Computer Control 1100

The original version was model A3268, which took its place at the top of the Electron Range circa 1983, when the new square button range was introduced.

A classy black fascia finish helped accentuate the green and red LED's to produce a very smart machine.

There is another A3268 preserved, though its a rather secretive example...

Control tastic...

Al, thanks for clearing that up, (hehe) human error so sorry for the confusion. I didn't know Hoover had an long association with Zanussi during the 1960s. Yes I knew of Paul's fab Hotpoint thread he done earlier this year. Hence why I was surprised to see Hoover 480 Liberator...

Why did Hotpoint/Hoover/AEG commissioned the Zanussi models?

And back to the main subject, Paul, Mike, thanks for sharing a couple of your pictures with us, always a privilege to see yours and everybody's else's collection. Loving the arty shot lol, The 1st Hoover Computer Control 1100 washing machine appears in the Persil Ad. (The link provided below).

Thanks to everybody commenting,
Hass.

Hoover - Who Better!

And Persil / Ariel, Hass if you look through your adds you can see the washer manufacturers courted mainly Persil and Unilever up until the introduction of Ariel in the early 1980`s.

Only when P & G collaborated with Servis during the manufacture of the new "Servis Quartz! with the "Multifabric Wash and introduced "Ariel" did things start to change,

When I worked at Trident in the early 80`s and then Agri Electrics Phillips had many promotions with Persil and large bottle Radion liquid.

Black Fascia

Hi Paul - glad to hear another one has been saved, good product placement there, even got me guessing, Lol,

I never understood all the wiring in the Hotpoint and Hoover computerised machines, given Servis where using one flat ribbon cable between the control board and speed controller power block, I wonder if Servis had a patent on it?

The Battle Of Detergents...

Hello Mike, thanks for that little insight. Though one slight confusion, did you mean the introduction of "Ariel Automatic"? Oh yes, I never spotted Servis were the first to collaborate, advertising "Ariel Automatic" as there choice of Detgergents. I can see how the battle began lol, Ariel vs Persil...

* Hotpoint/Bendix/Philips = Persil
* Hoover/Zanussi/Servis/Indesit/Candy = Ariel

Brief History for Ariel: Ariel first appeared on the UK market in 1967 and was the first detergent with stain-removing enzymes. It was a high-sudsing powder designed for twin-tub and top-loading washing machines. With the rise in popularity of automatic front-loading washing machines, a suitable low-suds variant was launched in the early 1970s. The mid-eighties saw the range expanding to encompass liquid detergent and compact powder - (Taken from Wikipedia).

The second preserved A3268....

belongs to Richard in Bristol and myself and rob collected it for him a year and a half ago.

Tidied up really well, though it does need mechanical work doing to it and its currently sat in Richard's repair queue....
