Hi guys the reason why I'm asking you guys for opinions for a new dishwasher is because my Bosch Exxcel SGS56E02GB is nearly 13 years old and has finally bitten the dust and all I want is reliability, good features, display and upto £500 max and which brand should I buy?

I have a gorgeous Smeg dishwasher and it washes better than anything I have seen when it comes to new dishwashers(Save for Miele).

My Dishwasher is odd though it is 36 inches wide and 2 feet tall. There are Six washes arms on it two on top and 4 on bottom.

It has every option on it and hooks up to cold water.

Smeg is not known much here in the States but, I have heard there well known in Europe.I love that Orbit wash system in them and it is totally silent.

For some reason the U.K. seems to get better dishwashers than here in the states what is considered high end here is old news there..

I have had my dishwasher for 4 years and not one problem ever and I Bob Load all my dishwasher's, probably worse I never rinse anything.I have put cakes, pizzas and a half a cup of Pop corn kernels  in my Whirlpool just to see what would happen..

Here is the type I have, they don't sell these in the States anymore but, I have had a Bosch and hated it.

I do love Miele but there $$$$$ as hell... I love the looks of them with that Retro design they have now..

Common answers tend to be either Bosch or Miele (although, you may struggle to get Miele on a £500 budget).

I've had AEG, Kenwood (a badged Fisher&Paykel machine) and Hotpoint.

Believe it or not, I have had a good experience with the Hotpoint machines, they wash and dry really well; cannot attest to the longevity, as had not had it that long and unfortunately, Hotpoint are not what they once where.

My parents have a Hotpoint DW and again, great wash and dry results and it must be at least 6 years old.

Unless going for a Miele, I personally don't expect any more than 3-5 years from ANY machine anymore (and that is probably being generous). It is a race to the bottom now to make them as cheap as possible, and of course, appliance makers/retailers are happy for us to constantly replace.

It really makes me chuckle when I read reviews of a £200 appliance and someone comments "I hope I get another 10 years like my last machine". Hahaha, never going to happen.

Coincidentally, I was taking my Vax Air vacuum apart today, to wash the brush bar and bleach down the suction head. It's a new machine (bought November 2015) and Vax have made it so that it is near impossible to service, it does not come apart easily. They want us to buy, buy, buy.

Sorry for the rant.

Integrated

I'd go with the integrated machine. Especially if you have a built in kitchen and a adequate front panel to fit on the front of the machine. And if you're not renting a property and you're having your own kitchen, then I'd definitely take the integrated. Freestanding machine can be useful if you plan to move very often or if you don't have space under the kitchen counter and you have to put the machine somewhere else.

I've not got an integrated kitchen but I'm getting my kitchen done in October and I'm thinking if I should get a freestanding or integrated and I am thinking of getting a Bosch as I think a Bosch dishwasher will suit my kitchen and my friend has got a Hotpoint Ultima dishwasher and she says it's had only 3 or 4 repairs throughout its life.

What I would recommend you

I'd recommend you a semi-built in dishwasher from Bosch. I've already used a similar model, and I was very pleased with the excellent cleaning results. It has god nice sliding racks and they feel quite solid. The waterpump is very powerful. The machine has got some useful options that really make some difference, they are not just gimmicks.
As you said, that you're remodeling you kitchen I would consider this solution. You may get a good deal until Ocotber.

Have decided

It's a bit too late but anyway I got a Bosch integrated dishwasher SMV53M40 JL exclusive one ordered and it's coming on the 12th October for my new kitchen
