HELP identify the decapitated Maytag...

Following are pictures of something I have been saving for a LONG time(since 1977 to be exact)
This is the control panel of the washer of my childhood, and when that washer expired I insisted it not be taken away because I wanted this panel. I wanted to remove it, and turn it into a light, the way it lit up when I was a small child.
I've never known how old this washer was, it was in the house when my parents bought it in 1966. It was replaced in 1977 by a matching set of Maytags, I believe the washer was A-608?
Can anyone give me a rough idea of this things vintage, and better yet, any pointers on turning it into the lamp I always wanted?

Rock on Buddy, This is certainly the coolest idea I've ever heard of for a lamp. the conversion should be fairly simple if the lighting works. All you need to to is find and isolate the circuit with the light sockets, and switch, and, if this is fluorescent lighting we are dealing with, the starter, if so equipped, and the ballast, then splice or solder them to a power cord. this should create your dream lamp. It's just a shame you could not hang on to the whole machine. Good luck.

Woah!

That was one cool color! I don't think I've seen coppertone on that early of a unit. Panel looks identical to an A702 I've seen recently. I'm not sure on the dates, but I'd put it at 61-65ish? Will make a fantastic lamp.

A702 - 1964-1965. The first model with a prewash and soak on the timer from Maytag. Also the first model year with fabric softener dispenser in the agitator.

I forgot, I do have the fabric softner dispenser stii too! Its under my kitchen Sink!
That poor washer really had a workout and not the easiest life. My parents moved to Elk Grove in 1966, my sister was born a month later, and I was not yet two. We both pre-date disposable diapers.
I hated to see that washer go, but when it was replaced in 1977 it was just short of falling apart. The suspension was also shot, and when it would spin, it would sometimes "walk"
My mom, in trying to take care of things washed half loads with full loads of water, thinking it would be easier on the machine. Instead it just made for lots of unbalanced loads because everything piled up in one spot when the drain/spin started.
The 1977 washer suffered the same fate.
