The dishwasher in my home is a Whirlpool W10431031A. It hasn’t worked since I bought the house from my dad. I had assumed he had tried getting it fixed and it was just dead so I was planning on replacing it when I could, this is apparently not the case, he never had any service technician out to look at it. I just tested it, I got it to fill once on the normal cycle but then it did nothing after that but it did drain when I cancelled the cycle. I couldn’t get it to even fill testing the other cycles and then the normal wouldn’t fill trying it a second time. It does attempt to drain when you cancel. The control panel clicks as it thinks it’s progressing through the cycles and lights up like normal. Where should I start? Can I potentially fix it myself, do I need a tech, or is it just dead? I know it’s less than 6 years old because it was purchased after my youngest was born and I thought Whirlpool made good dishwashers so I feel like it shouldn’t be having this problem.

Just to say, W10431031A is a part number for something (maybe the user manual), not a dishwasher model number.  The model number tag is affixed to the side of the tub (usually the left), visible when the door is open.
