Saw another ad this morning that used 'DD' in it. Ex: KM DD dishwasher.
I can't for the life of me figure out what the DD stands for. And while I'm at it, I am at a loss with 'TOL' also.
I'm sure someones gonna get a chuckle out of this, but what the heck......
Thanks in Advance.
Keith

DD vs BD

Common AW.org lingo includes several abbreviations.

MT = Maytag
WP = Whirlpool
KN = Kenmore (their laundry products have been mostly WP built)

WP / KM BD = the Whirlpool Belt Drive washer, a design used from around 1947-1986
WP / KM DD = the Whirlpool Direct Drive washer, a design used from the early 1980s to around 2011.

Clear as mud?

The name DishDrawer is a registered trademark of that other company.  The similar product that was sold under other brands is known as a drawer dishwasher ... so the DD reference would be the same either way.

WH = Westinghouse
HP = Hotpoint
KM = Kenmore
KA = Kitchen Aid
WW = White Westinghouse (after Westinghouse gave up and White bought the name)
TL = Top loader
FL = Front loader
HOH= Halo of Heat, Maytag dryer trademark

Less often seen abbreviated, more written out:

EW = Electrolux White (or Electrowhite)
FL = Frigilux (Same as above)
EFW = Electrofrigiwhite (these brands are indistinguishable)
WT = Whirltag (Whirlpool bought Maytag) Also, Whirltemp in Brazil.
MP = Maypool (Same as above)
GP = Goldpool or WS = Whirlstar (Goldstar makes Whirlpool microwaves)

And that's the SHORT list, leaving out the Euro crossbranding.

LoL, Quincyman you have to learn your agitators too, Rotoswirl, pregnant Rotoswirl, Rotoflex, Straight vane, vari-flex, Jet action, 3 ring with lint chaser and 2 more rings that will be homework. Surgilator super surgilator, spiralator, activator, gyratator, spiral dasher, bouncing basket, Westinghouse "New way to wash" (it's a trick), Fountain pump, burpalator, "blades of water". I am sure there are more and this from a man that could not find his car keys this morning. Welcome Quincyman!!! This group will hook you up with some washer terminology, I have learned so much from all of them. alr2903
