I cannot believe it.
I am looking for a new bedspread, and I cannot find anything remotely like what I am looking for, which is:
- Full size, 96 inches by 109 inches
- Single-layer fabric, not quilted
- Machine washable
- Guy-type plaid, stripe, or geometric, predominantly blue
Now is that so hard? Well, yes, it seems to be. I am finding comforters, duvet covers, bed-in-a-bag, Battenberg lace-trimmed, Dupioni silk, Swarovski crystal-trimmed, John Deere tractor prints, NASCAR prints, Batman prints, Barbie prints, fake fur, real fur, real down, part down, not-really-down-but-we-think-it's-just-as-good, chenille, granny quilts, embroidered, 24-jillion-thread-count Unobtanium cotton, you name it.
But not a plain, serviceable, trim, guy's bedspread, suitable for a midcentury room (I have Danish furniture). I did find one great bedspread on eBay, pictured below; it was a terrific vintage block plaid in reds, blues and black. But it turned out to be smaller than the seller thought it was, so she refunded me.
Does anyone have any idea where this elusive item can be found? If I liked foofy, the world would be my oyster, but I'm about as unfoofy as they come, and that's not in style right now. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
