Help with GE front load washer...

I've followed your site / forums for several years now, but never really felt the need to post, as all my questions and curiosities were already addressed in other posts. I have to say it was great to find a group of people who made me, and my long time affinity for anything washing machine related, seem "normal". Thanks guys!

I have a question for you. I apologize if this has already been posted, but I couldn't find any info in my search. My grandparents recently purchased a GE front load laundry pair. I know, I know, you don't have to say it, but the purchase was not mine to make. I am desperately searching for a way to raise the water level in the washer. I have several friends with Samsung's, who have made adjustments to the pressure switch to raise the water level significantly. I was wondering if someone could walk me through the process on this GE, or perhaps point me in the right direction. The model number is GFWH2400L0WW. The part number for the pressure switch is WH12X10390. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Can you take a picture of the switch?

If it looks like the one in the thread I've posted below, all it takes is tweaking some screws.

I'm hazarding a guess and saying that the screws you have to tweak are the same ones mentioned in the link, but according to a picture I saw on Google, the pinout of the switch looks different, so I'm not entirely sure.

So, here's something I would consider doing...

First, purchase a replacement switch in case you mess up the one that came with the machine. I think they're roughly $70 each.

Second, write down everything you do and mark the switch screws. When you adjust them with a screwdriver, mark the shaft of the screwdriver so you can keep track of how many degrees you've turned the screw. There will be trial and error. Taking pictures doesn't hurt either.

Third, when you run a cycle, watch the machine for the full duration of a cycle. If you messed something up, it will start throwing error codes. Worst case scenario, it will go into "Infinite fill" mode and flood your laundry room. I would take that contingency into account if I were you.

Fourth, I cannot take any responsibility for anything you do to your machine. This may invalidate your warranty, flood your house, render your washer inoperable or result in death or injuries, direct or indirect. Take my advice with a grain of salt, I'm certainly not an authorized technician!

I hope this thread below gives you some insight as to what to do.

Replacing the pressure switch looks like a cinch if you render your machine inoperable.

If the washer really truly just uses this single mechanical pressure switch, you've lucked out. A lot of consumer washers are using electronic pressure switches instead of mechanical ones, which results in absolutely no tweakability at all.

One other forum member here (Forgot his name) had a Samsung machine he was able to tweak the water levels on, but it was nearly all or nothing. In other words, it either filled up halfway up the door or it barely gave him any water at all. Your results may vary.

Another thing.. There are a lot of threads on here about what the ideal water level for a front loader should be. The clothing should tumble and splash into the water, not float in it. The baffles must be able to pick up the clothing and "throw" it against the side of the drum.

Thanks for the info guys. I was hoping for a quick "remove the loctite and adjust one screw" fix that several friends did on their Samsungs. It appears that the GE will be a little more complicated with multiple adjustment points. Takes the fun out of tweaking. That, combined with watching how my grandparents actually load and use the washer, has made me decide against any adjustments for now. The water level is sufficient for their needs and so far the wash results have been fine. I appreciate you guys time and info. Thanks again.
