Help with KDD-67

Hi Guys, I just bought a KDD-67 from Facebook marketplace. I've never had a dishwasher before so I was real excited to get this one. Well I had to change my faucet to an older style one and got the right adapter from the hardware store. I did a trial run and it seems like the dishwasher just isn't getting enough water. It's making noises, but when it goes to empty, it empties in the sink for only a second. Way less water than I thought it would use. I put some soap in, closed the door, and put in a few dirty dishes. When it finished a complete cycle, the soap had just dribbled out of the now open soap door, and the dishes were still dirty. I'm very handy and I would like to tackle this myself. Is there a common issue with these? Any suggestions on where I should start would be greatly appreciated. Have a good Memorial Day everyone!

first of all....Welcome!

lets search out water pressure/flow first....as some machines can have a pressure switch as to not allow an overflow, they also can have a certain time frame to add water to a machine.....

some of those faucet adapters have a restrictor in them, usually only allows 2 gallons per minute, which in many times is not enough for a dishwasher....

unscrew that off the faucet, and remove that little restrictor disc....just to see if that may allow more water to enter...

also....where the hose connects to the water valve under the machine, sometimes there is a screen in there that needs cleaned out....

Portable DW Use

Hi Billz, When you use a portable DW you should open your kitchen Hot water valve only fully.

 

To test your homes water pressure through the faucet and cuppler and hoses remove the DWs lower service panel, then disconnect the hot water inlet hose at the inlet valve. Direct this hose into a 5 gallon bucket and turn on the hot water faucet fully and run the water for exactly one minute, if you get at least two gallons of water in the bucket your sink faucet and hook-up is good.

 

At this point test the power going to the inlet valve as the DW runs through a cycle, if the timer is supplying 120 volts to the inlet valve for around 60 seconds each time the DW calls for water and you are still not getting around 2 gallons of water in the bottom of the DW you have a bad inlet valve.

 

You can remove and disassemble the inlet valve and check for a clogged screen [ very rare ] but you most likley need a new valve diaphragm or a complete valve if you can find one.

Thanks for the replies guys. I removed the restrictor in the adapter. I tried to get the inlet hose off to check the screen, I need a better pliers. It's on there real good. I'm almost afraid I will break the plastic. If I go break the plastic, are these inlet valves still relatively easy to come by? I also disassembled the valve, cleaned it out, still no go. The dishwasher does gurgle, so there is some water getting through. I'm going to get a bigger pliers tomorrow and try again. I will post an update tomorrow.

Well hose screen was clogged. Picture is attached. So I took apart the whole valve, cleaned it all out. Immediately when I turned on the water to the machine, it began to fill, I applied power, it filled and then stopped filling. Went through one rinse and empty, then it wouldn't fill again. Does the order of the wires going to the valve matter? Should I try to switch them? I also noticed the solenoid got warm to the touch, not sure if that is normal. I'm wondering if the electronic portion of the valve is bad. Any help would be appreciated. It seems to be getting power.

Did you flush out the water hose?
If not I'll bet the valve is plugged again.
It's normal for the valve to get warm.
Wires doesn't matter witch goes where.

Be sure to use a new hose washer!
