I'm sorry to bother you with my problem. I emailed Robert about a problem I'm currently having with a "newer" model KA dishwasher. He suggested I post it in the forum however I'm not a member and didn't want to have to create a profile and enter all sorts of info and then just end up deleting it. If you could be of some assistance I would be eternally grateful. So here it goes:
I happened upon your site a while back and I enjoy popping in and looking at the treasures people find and the awesome restorations done on older appliances. I have a fascination with vintage appliances as well and have always been fascinated by washers,dryers, dishwashers and microwaves since I can remember. I was wondering if I could ask a question about my dishwasher. I have a KitchenAid model # KUDI24SEWH1 Serial # FF2307571 lately over the last year or so it has been getting progressively more noisy (sort of a low growling type noise) and approximately 2 or 3 months ago it began making an intermittent screeching or squealing noise which is very loud and irritating. It used to only do it on occasion, but now it seems to do it every time it is run and sometimes will continue on almost thru the entire cycle however it seems to go away while draining. I am wondering if it is worth getting it looked at and repaired and what could be causing the problem. I have not noticed any leaks or other issues other than the noise. It still functions normally and there has been no change in washing performance.(unless you count crappy detergent which seems to be everywhere these days LOL) I purchased the unit in 1997 and it has been used every day sometimes several times a day. I do have a back up unit and I was considering just pulling the Kitchenaid and installing the new unit but I really do like the Kitchenaid. So if you all could lend a helping hand and offer some advice w/o me having to pay a repairman 80 to 100 bucks for a service call just to find out its days are numbered and not worth repairing it would be greatly appreciated.My wife thinks I am nuts and wants to just use it till it dies. Sorry to ramble on and be so lengthy. I look forward to hearing from your members and your assistance is greatly appreciated.
