We had an unfortunate accident on the way back with the Whirlpool Machines today. I also picked up a free 1970s to early 1980s model speed queen Washer as well nearby. Unbeknownst to me and unfortunately the lid for the speed queen must have been loose and while driving home it flew off which was bad enough, but during its journey it also hit the front of the whirlpool washing machine. This has chipped the front of the machine in one spot and I’m just hoping that there’s someway to touch up that color. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I’ll post pictures of everything when I return home as I’m not quite there yet. I’ll also be needing a lid for the speed Queen washer if anybody has one, LOL. Thanks

That’s unfortunate. My best advice would be to take the washer somewhere that matches paint and see if you can get a small amount mixed to repair the damaged area.

transporting machines 101

lesson 1: carry a roll of tape with you to secure all lids and doors before transporting....this goes for washers, dryers, fridges, stoves...and sometimes removing knobs or racks as well...

and there are ideas for securing the suspension on certain models for transport, especially if your laying them down....

It was taped down!

The issue was the door pins came out where the door hinges. I taped the end that opens closed. I’m not that much of a newb lol. I just came across a picture from the ad and I didn’t realize one pin was broken/out of place on one side. This is why it came off.

I would use reinforced strapping tape at the front and back of the lid, and extend it down both of the sides at least a foot. I would also tape dryer (and oven, ref.- frz.) doors with same tape extending at least a foot back each side. Another option is straps. Padded moving blankets are also a good idea, but should be tied or strapped on.

A shame the Whirlpool washer got chipped. Maybe you can find another Coppertone top in good condition if you aren't satisfied with the touch,-up.
