Howdy all -

Came across a detergent at my favorite Polish market called “E”. Looks as though it’s made by Henkel.

I guess I’ll throw this question to the detergent experts. Why is the name simply “E”? And how is it in comparison to Persil powder?

Just purchased a 77 wash load box of it. I’m hoping it’s decent.

Don't know if one would call it a bargain brand, but "E" while made by Henkel and often sold in same shops as Persil obviously isn't meant to take away sales from latter.

As with both P&G and Unilever Henkel seems to have positioned "E" also to be an aromatherapy sort of product. This much like Surf, OMO and some others.

Truth to tell even when in France have never seen "E" in other than Polish packaging. Don't know how widely Henkel distributes this product.

Give it a go and report back results. Am that curious but since forbidden to purchase any new laundry detergents must live vicariously through others..

I love E. I have the powder for whites as well as the one for colors. They work well in hot water washes.

There’s another brand I bought around the same time called called Bryza, and that one doesn’t work as well. Even when you put the laundry powder in first and start to fill the machine with water, and then add the clothes, plus an extra rinse, I find clumps of undissolved laundry detergent in the clothes. But I haven’t noticed it with E.

I’m a first generation American of Polish descent, and the smell of it reminds me of my visits to Poland, so for me it also has a nostalgia factor.

It's the Polish version of Weisser Rieser. It sits below Persil in the Henkel detergent hierarchy.

So....

Mrs. Volvoman ran "E" through its paces this evening. Overall consensus between us, is that it seemed to do a great job, and both Mrs. V and I loved the scent (she's currently inhaling her hoodie as we speak). I'll have to check what kind of suds it makes on the next washload.

@ Yuccadew

It's pretty damn super. I can't tell you how nice it is to have laundry detergent that smells like...well...detergent.

I'd love to try the liquid version, assuming I can find it.

volvoman- if I ever see it, I’m going to buy it, although I’ve never seen the liquid, only the powder. And even then it’s sold out half the time.

Curious to try the E liquid, since I wonder if the scent would be much stronger in the liquid. Powders don’t seem to bothers me as much, but I’ll have to try an American powder to see if that’s the case with those or not, I haven’t used an American powder in a long time.

@ Yuccadew

I haven't seen "E" liquid available, either.

What I've been on a quest to find locally, is Persil Lavender liquid. The powder is available quite easily in my area; not so much the liquid. I could order it, but I don't want to.

@Laundress- thank you for posting. I have seen those products online, just not willing to pay those prices. Nice variety, though! I’d love to try some of those.

@volvoman- I keep holding out hope that I find it locally, too. I’ve seen the German Persil, but can’t recall which scents. Next time I’ll take a photo.
