Thanks for the info on the drying technique. This explains why plastic items on the top rack aren't dried completely when the cycle completes. Even the manual tells you that plastic items on the top rack will require towel drying or air drying before storage. It's not a lot of water on the items, but it's there.

My pleasure. Knowledge is power. At least you read the manual. Most of my customers notice the damp plastics and immediately call the shop and bitch with both barrels loaded. I saw you had the normal setting chosen on the dishwasher. OK. But try the 'auto clean' setting if you haven't already. Unlike some brands like GE, I think, that put the soil sensor in the drain pump, the Turbidity Sensor on yours is actually in the wash pump area for a better read of how dirty the water is without draining and potentially wasting hot water. It will actually drop time and cut out fill/drains as needed. Maytag has been using this sensor system since the old 'Intellisense' models with much success.

I love my Jennair convection and bake with it exclusively. Next time you get a chance, a convection cooked turkey is awesome. I convection roasted a 25Lb bird in little over 3 hours and it was perfect. Enjoy!

We've used the Auto Clean cycle for most of the washes we have done so far. Last night we tried the Normal Wash Mode. We have also tried the Tough Pot Scrub option.
I generally tend to read the users manual when I get new items. When these units were delivered, I had to ask for the Dishwasher manual as the installation guy just threw it in the box the DW came in and was on the way out the door with it!
I can tell with these appliances you really need to read the users guide to get the most out of them.

Exposed Heating elements

KitchenAid dishwashers from the Hobart era were the only DW's I can remember that did not have exposed heating elements. These DW's however did not heat the water during the wash cycle...they just exchanged the water frequently enough that it never cools down! When they go into the dry cycle, they blow hot air into the compartment instead of drying through convection.

I have a Maytag range that is about 10 years old, and have not had even the slightest bit of trouble with it. The oven has electronic controls and cooks evenly and accurately. I haven't had any of the issues Matt speaks of!

Smart to stay away from Viking, Gaggenau, Bosch, Jenn Air, and Thermador, they are no better than MOL, but you sure do pay for that name. Bosch dishwasher are worse than BOL in my experience.

And exposed heating elements, I have a nice brand on my arm from one, suppose most repair men do.

While researching appliances, I was rather shocked to see the problems with those high end appliances too. We are talking some serious money for the brands you mentioned in your response. And only to find that the manufacturer doesn't stand behind them or gives you the run around?
If I bought a Thermador or Viking or even a Dacor range and it failed and the mfg. failed to fix it, I'd be more than pissed!

I have a similar DW by Maytag and I LOVE it. Seems to actually WORK WELL!

Is the stove a Magic Chef (Maytag) platform or a Whirlpool platform? Either onme should be be fabulous!

Would be my guess. This stove looks exactly the same as the ones we had on the floor when our store opened in 2004, before WHP took over MYT.
