We all knew this was coming one day!

Jon,
I was fairly confident they'd look like the current ariston models in italy. I wouldn't be surprized if the drums followed suit when they are in the shops. Judging from that site, that is only a first edition model!

Its not as bad as i thought, i thought they'b indenticalsits i mean indesits:D lol

I just came across this the other day cause Makro are knocking it out at £179.99 plus VAT from Wednesday, so i'll go and have a look at it and see what its like.

Oh my god! I hope they don't all look like this - this is billed as a 'First Edition' machine, which are always put together from the spare parts bin and come out looking like a right mongrel of a machine. So there is still hope - I hope!

I am so glad my parents bought one of the current, soon to be old, series. Hotpoint's might not be what they used to be, but I really like the current styling. We will have to see how long their's lasts as it replaced an almond 95452 which gave 20 years sterling service - doubt it will last quite that long though.

Merloni has to be very careful in the UK. It seems to me that the name Hotpoint still has a fair amount of respect. To affiliate it with, or replace it with Ariston, has the potential to alienate quite a few people. Call it badge snobbery (does Hotpoint have badge snobbery?), but I wouldn't and my parents definately wouldn't by an overt Ariston machine.

Tread carefully Merloni - you could shoot yourself in both feet with this one!

Cheers
Paul

P.S what they should do is reintroduce the styling themes of the machine below - a true Hotpoint stunner. Maybe though, to placate those who like to see what is going on, have a clear door. I jest - but I would by a machine from the 'Nostalgia Range'.

Oh the humanity!

Jon,

That is just... wait a minute… oh no… I’m going to be… *throws up* ;-)

JON! Why’d you have to do this to us?! It’s terrible – it’s… *throws up* ;-)

I always think someone was too hasty with their pencil when designing the control panels on these Aristons! God, they look awful!

And that sort of model number is that?! LOL

Comet usually has close-ups of products viewable online, so there must be some to look at there.

I was so flustered after seeing that that I had to eat some crisps! LOL Oh, and I’m going to have a pink wafer biscuit in a minute… ;-)

Take care. :-)

Regards,

Carl :-)

Italian Hotpoint

Well i've just been into Makro to look at these as they have about 20 of them. They are made in Italy like the Aqualtis is. Now do i detect a theme here???? 2nd Hottie not made in the UK. Whats next i wonder? I couldn't look inside cause they didn't have one open but the packaging is now stamped with Indesit Spa Italy all over it as well. Normally they just had a little bit on the box on a label but now its in big letters lol. i'm back in Makro Friday so i'm sure there will be one open for me to play with by then.

Think................

Fridgidaire becoming WCI.....get the picture, get the pain!!!!

Hotpoint WAS one of 4 main British Laundry Specialists here up until the 90`s, Hoover, Hotpoint, Servis & Creda...

They have now been swallowed up by Indesit/Ariston of Italy...and this is an Ariston machine made to look like a Hotpoint...and least they are making it a premier brand and not ditching it....

Gonna be interesting to see how it pitches out etc..

I can feel a song coming on… ;-)

In the style of Barry Manilow’s Mandy:

I remember all my life
Raining down as cold as ice
A shadow of a man
A face through a window
Crying in the night
The night goes into

Morning, just another day
Happy people pass my way
Looking in their eyes
I see a memory
I never realised
you made me so happy, oh Hottie

Well you rinsed and you spun without breaking
but I sent you away, oh Hottie
well you kissed me and stopped me from shaking
I need you today, oh Hottie

Sorry! LOL :-)

Carl :-)

We have Whirltags...so now you have Aripoints? or Hotdesits?

That new "Aripoint" front-loader looks like a bloody television set! I keep looking for rabbit ears where the water connections belong!

Oh, well...since Frigidaire makes front-loaders for GE in the U. S., if the American Hotpoint line develops an FL, we could call it a "Frigipoint" or...more appropriately...

"HotAire!"

Oh my!

I guess that do not know what to say, it sounds like some of the companies care about the bottom line rather than costomer loyalty, it sounds very Maytag to me, or in its present tence, Whirltag...........and what can be said for building a crappy machine, just wait my friends.......when they have an appliance scandle the likes of what we have seen here across the pond, well, they will be wishing for purple doors!! Maybe they will even try it, all they will be out in is the purple rain!

Who remembers this?

I used to love this advert as a kid. Even Mum always says Ariston whenever we hear the tune to it.

Will they use the old Ariston Adverts though? I doubt not.....
that would be dum dum dum!

Or will they prefer Gabrielles Dreams to this classic from TRIO

Rob

Range Update...

If you download the brochure on the hotpoint site. You will see the only new additions to the range are:

TOL Aqualtis is SILVER with a now 8kg drum. And the hybrid aristony-hotpointy first edition 1100. n a couple of different dishwashers that i didnt take any notice of.

Wahoo least now i can decide what im going to get.

Ariston

Being I had such a disaster with my LG washer dryer combo - I was thinking of purchasing another combo. I do know Ariston is sold in America. Can anyone give me a insight on the relalibility rating of Ariston. Of course I would need to find out about service.
Thank you
Peter
