Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Great machines, fun to watch and the modern ones perform well according to people on here... but reliability/longevity/quality isn't what Ariston (or it's parent company Indesit) is known for :-(. Shame cos otherwise they're smart machines!

Ariston and on...

I know Ariston have a mixed reputation on here, but it worth pointing out that we inherited an Ariston that was from the late 1980s here and worked fine until last summer, when the pump impeller finally shredded down to nothing (having pumped many a foreign object I guess), at which point we decided to replace it. The bearings were worn too (very dramatic grating noise at wash speed), but it still worked, and indeed washed rather well....perhaps it was a one-off

Still a shame that 'Old Hotpoint' is dead though...

Rob

Hi, Rob! :-)

That's brilliant - thank you! :-) It's taken me all day to get around to watching those videos, but what a treat! :-)

The first one is definitely the better of the two, and I do love the way "Britain"/"Briton" is pronounced - so funny! LOL :-) "Bri-ton!" LOL :-)

The detail in the track on the first video is fantastic, although I must also confess to liking the Central Television (now ITV Central) theme tune added to the end! LOL :_) Ohter membes will know what I'm talking about! :-)

Very goods ads, even today, anf I certainly remember them fondly. :-) Just look at some of the dire ads we get today. The fact that those ads stick in many minds even today shows that they worked, even though the product iself is not quite what it used to be, although I have to echo wha Jon has said about Indesit Company machines being very nice but ultimately unreliable.

I shall come up with some new words for the first ad very soon! :-)

Take care. :-)

Regards,

Carl :-)
