Hero "he" Liquid Laundry Detergent

I bought a jug of Hero liquid because I liked the idea of a masculine scent and felt like their mission was one I could support, and it was competitively priced at Target.  It claims to be "he," but "for all" types of machines.

 

I should have learned from my Gain "he" powder "for all" machines experience that "for all" means too much suds for a front loader.

 

I'm disappointed that even with a reduced dose, Hero creates so much suds that the entire window of my Affinity is obscured.  The viscosity is also disappointing, as it's very thin and has to be carefully poured into the dispenser drawer to prevent splashing.  I've gotten past the toxic "Prestone" look of the liquid itself.

 

I've given up on Hero for use in the Affinity.  It's now being used in the Maytag 712 on the back porch instead.

 

Has anyone else experienced this trouble with Hero?  Who really makes this stuff?  I've gone on line and expressed my disappointment.  I'm anticipating a boiler plate response.

Same experience

I've still got half a jug of the stuff because of the suds. I like the scent (almost like citronella/eucalyptus), but suds' too much for the front loader during spin. Cleaning ability seems to be on par with Purex w/ enzymes but not as good as Tide or Persil. Overall a decent detergent, but not really worth the price.

I've found the Persil "Fresh Linen" with green label to be a nice, non-overpowering, neutral scent.

Here's the prompt response I received from Mike Eaton, CEO and founder of Hero:

 

<div>Hi there!  Thanks for the note and the report.  You are our first over-sudsing complaint and I'm really sorry you are experiencing this.  I'm wondering if we can send you another bottle to see if it works better.  Our product shouldn't over suds with proper dosage.  We can put some of the other products in to try as well.  I'm wondering if you also might be able to take a pic of the numbers on the neck of the bottle for me.  It will allow us to pull and test some bottles from that batch.</div>

Yeah, I tried it in a TL...liked the scent but it seemed a relatively unsophisticated (i.e. single enzyme) formula and at no price advantage over other first-line (Tide/Gain/Persil) not worth it.

IMHO old fashioned Persil powder (in the box) has the best scent.

Can't stand overly scented laundry detergents. Still have a 15 year old bottle of Wisk Liquid that stinks, as well as a box of Gain that I keep in the linen closet to fumigate.
