I remember those.

We had a couple of those when I was younger. I used them to make french fries and potato chips. My mom used one to dice onions with when she made chili for the tavern she worked out. She used another one can't remember what it was called but it was tall and had a crank handle and suction base to hold it still on the counter.

That's it! The tavern would buy onions in 50 lb bags and she would take home the bag and and I would help her chop them to be frozen.

Kitchen Magician

In the 1970s we bought mom a "Kitchen Magician" which she used... twice. It sat on the top shelf of the pantry emprisoned for the rest of time.
The suction cup on the bottom could suck the chrome off a bumper!

Veg-O-Matic

Yes... I remember those too, they were pretty neat and worked great!

OK, so there was the Veg-O-Matic, but what about the OTHER handy, dandy kitchen tool.... the Sledge-O-Matic??

Metter of fect...

I used mine to make scalloped potatoes on Christmas Eve. Nothing like a Veg-O-Matic to cut down on prep work!

In related news, I saw a new Veg-O-Matic in the aisle of Craptastic Gifts at my local Rite Aid. Didn't stop to examine it because, well, why bother? I have the original!
