Hey man, I tried your tuna salad recipe, but subbed in canned chicken and added a packet of ranch dressing mix. It was a big hit at the fourth celebration!! Thanks for the base recipe. You East coast guys got it all, dontcha? Ya can cook, AND fix appliances. Perfect combination...

That's what I love of recipes like this...you can improvise with anything......

Cooking and fixing appliances is just the beginning....

I have a full stocked garage with a lift and wash bay, and I can and have changed engines, brakes, tires, you name it!

I can sew, and crochet, and needlepoint....made all the curtains in my house from flat sheets, all matching to the rooms decor....

I can bring home the bacon and fry it up in the pan! AND I do windows, just a hint when washing them, wash the inside with vertical swipes, and the outside with horizontal swipes, so you know which side the streaks are on...always thinking of ideas!!!

You would be suprised what I can do...both to you and for you....that's why everyone is jealous of my man!!!

in life, you have to try everything once, at least give it a try, just to say you're versatile, and that you can do it!

East coast guys got it all?

WELLLLLLL...OK...But let it be known, I've met some very nifty members from this site; right here on the West coast that are far being couch potatoes!

Ambition aside, they quite capable of fixing autos, repairing appliances, being creative in the kitchen, host various occaisions with ease (A Good Thing), and excel in brainstorming.

Oh, did I mention they are also computer skilled, digital camera knowledgable cell phone savvy; and have a general "can do" attitude. By far, NOT the average Joe. And...BEST of all, they are NOT afraid to share their knowledge, or help with a project. Loads of ENERGY here.

With that being said, that's ALL part of what makes this a WONDERFUL club/site .East, West, North, or SOUTH; there is something for everyone to which none of us can THANK Robert enough. ...

During this writing, the Beach Boys song comes to mind:
" The East coast girls are hip, I really dig the styles they wear; And the northern girls with the way they kiss, they keep their BF's warm at night, but the Southern girls, with the way they talk; they really make you feel alright?

Anyway, I wish they all could be ---------- girls...I didn't say it, I didn't,I didn't, LOL; runs & ducks.

runs 7 ducks...

You guys crack me up!! As a resident of the upper south, I suppose I qualify as a "southern girl" (use your imagination).

Yogi, I am even more impressed now; we were TIED until you came up with the car stuff. Unfortunately, I am pretty lost after oil change/top off the fluids. However, I am pretty adept at woodworking and can wield a crochet hook just like my gramma. Maybe we should trade patterns.

I am so glad Rick introduced me to this website. I feel like
family already. Oh, right, guess I was, wasn't I? Later!!

my mother was a seamstress and my father an auto mechanic....

my dad would always repair stff rather than throw it out and buy new....

my mother was determined that her children would be independant, and each of us would be self sufficient, not needing a husband/wife to take care of us, we should be able to have the knowledge to do it ALL, there was 7 of us, 4 boys and 3 girls....the 2 oldest boys disappoint her the most, they live my dad's old school, the husband works/earns the paycheck and the wife takes care of the children and the home, now that their divorced, they can't fend for themselves, and my mother gets on them for not learning what she wanted them to know.....

I have streetsmarts and knowledge of things you can't imagine, or better yet common sense, some things get by me, but when a problem come up, the gears start turning and I have to figure out how to fix it....I'm told by many that I look like and remind them of Adam of the show MythBuster's....I can rig some things up that boggle the mind, I even fixed my BF tv with a twist tie from bread, after the repair man said it couldn't be fixed, that tv lasted 8 years.....curiosity gets the best of me.....

did I mention I can vegetables and fruits.....make cakes from scratch....and I have a great bread recipe that's mixed in a food processor in 60 seconds.... also have a old fashioned ice cream maker hooked up to a drill, that crank will kill your arm, and the list goes on....I have a 93 Taurus SHO...with a few computer chip changes, have increased horse power 29% on an already powerful Yamaha motor, and the boosted power occurs at 3300 rpm instead of 3900....it can be done.....and you guys can do this stuff too.....

work smarter.....not harder......but keep thinking

I have my house wired for sound....speakers everywhere....inside and out....even the bathroom and laundry....even volume thruout...3 recievers linked to one master.....Can your stereo make the lights in your house flicker?....ask my local fire dept...they been here 3 times, I am not kidding....only because someone called thinking my house was on fire....it happens!

for effect...purchase rope lights from Lowes and install them under and above your kitchen cabinets...linked to a simple lamp timer...or for a night lite down the baseboard of a hallway and staircase....

save wrappers from butter in freezer...use to grease cookie sheets or cake pans, and then throw away...........

save plastic containers from the deli or chinese food....they come in 3 sizes....all use the same lid...store, freeze, microwave in them....they don't cost you anything....disposable...and if you send food home with someone, no loss if you don't get them back....and you always have a matched set that stacks neatly, either full or empty....think about it!

ideas are endless.......does your sink sprayer pull out 10 feet?....I can water plants, fill the dog bowl, fill a bucket on the floor, reach a pot on the stove.....

you guys have got to have ideas to share.....

thread 23145...4th of July togethers.....recipe is there...

and let us know of your improvisations with it....sometimes you can add green peas, or dill relish, or pickles....even a dab of ketchup...you would be suprised, even the tuna with out the noodles, makes a great sandwich spred, and the ranch dressing idea I love, I'm a ranch kinda guy.....

but the mayo preference is always Hellmans

mom used to make ranch dressing years ago with the package mix and real butter milk, and It had to sit in the fridge overnight, couldn't get enough of it!

Tuna Salad

Here's a tuna salad that is really adaptable:
1-16 oz package of elbow macaroni
2-lg. cans of tuna
5-stalks of celery chopped small
3-lg. apples, seeded, and cut into small peices, Peeled or unpeeled.
mayo
salt and pepper
1-tablespoon tarragon if you like.

great served on lettuce leaves or into lg. scooped out tomatoes. The apples and tuna compliment each other real well.
chill and enjoy

Thanks for the recipes guys...I love the variations....many of these I'm gonna try and test out on the family....

we definately need a recipe post...

even simple tuna and mayo....I add finely chopped onion, celery, carrots, olives and relish and maybe a little ketchup, the kids love it on crackers and they don't even know there's a few veggies in there!

These are some different recipes for tuna salad here.
I have never seen or heard of noodles in tuna salad before. I always thought of it as a luncheon salad for sandwiches or croissants, but will have to try your version Yogi.
