Hi Chris-
Yes, I know about Panasonic twin-tubs. Standard Asian twin-tub design overall, i.e. flat "pulsator" agitator on the bottom of the wash tub, etc.
One of the features Panasonic has (or at least had a year or so ago) on their twin-tubs is a "soakmatic" setting that consists of a long soak cycle with an occasional brief turn of the agitator.
They also have some *very* advanced front loaders including a brand new washer/dryer that I should post news about here one of these days. So I have a strategy...
I'm a dealer for Panasonic high-end commercial telephone systems, and Panasonic corporate knows about me via some engineering design inputs for same, so I might have some ability to pester them for things you can't ordinarily get in the USA.
That being said, they're a huge company so it might not be possible. On the other hand, for a huge company, they're remarkably responsive to input from their "grass roots" dealerships.
I've been thinking of suggesting to Panasonic that they include their washers in their USA product line. Frankly I've been too swamped with worky-work to get to this and it's been a long time since I thought of doing it. But I think I can write up a decent marketing case as to why they should do it, and yes I'm going to include the twin-tubs because they're high efficiency at lower cost and the compact size is good for city dwellers who don't have space for large machines.
So stick around. If I can find the time I'll do the writeup and send it in, and post news here about what happens.
