Hi Guys. Hope all is well in appliance land. I am finally back! When we moved we had major problems with broadband so had to cancel it and go onto dial up. It was pants and expensive as it was pay as you go.Well finally we have now got broadband back and so I can now return as a member..yey!
Ive got loads to catch up on and so will be busy reading lots of posts. The news I have is that we have got 2 more machines in the collection (we werent intending to get anymore after we moved and downsized what we had but you guys know how it is!). A Servis twn tub model 111. It was one near the end of the production of the 111 as it has no name badge on the front but thankfully it still has the rinse facility in the spinner. Also a Hoover Logic 1200 Model A3786 from September 1989. I got this off my partners sister and husband as they decided to get a modern Hoover machine. Ive had to replace the door seal as it was covered in mould and it had wrecked the rubber and so it was leaking . Also had to replace the soap hose (the hose from the dispense to tub) as this was leaking also. The sump hose will need replacing as its started to crack but is ok at present.The suspension is a bit dodgy as sqeaky sometimes.The motor bearings are also noisy.I use the logic as our everyday machine now.We did buy a whirlpool top loader for the new house for our everyday machine but this is being sold as unfortunately it kept ripping clothes/towels etc. Its a shame as I was very excited about owning one.
Well we also got a Electrolux Insight dishwasher for the new house and I love it. I have done a video of it and will be loading it on you tube shortly. I have also done some vids of the Hoover front loader A3060 and the Logic in competition with each other on a 60 cotton wash. I had to put an extra rinse on the 3060 as there were too many suds and thats on the vids also. I have tried many experiments with the 2 machines. Both filling same time hot/cold, Logic filling first then 3060, Logic on hot cold fill and 3060 on cold fill only. All have been very different on results. The videos are of them both on Hot/Cold fill and filling at the same time. I will be loading those on you tube also.

Did wonder where u vanished too lol. Great to hear you have a Logic. cant beat em. i love mine. tho it went faulty yesterday.

That dishwasher is very nice looking and slightly more interesting than your average one with it having a window Glad your pleased with it. I have an intergral AEG with very similar options and its fantastic.

Nice you are back. Cool Logic machine. The dishwasher is also cool. What is anyone poured regular dish soap in it. Then you would see the bubbles rising, altough it would ruin the dishwasher.

I have myself done that one time when we were having a party. Suds were on the march out of the kitchen LOL. The dishwasher didnt survive the ordeal and i had to buy a new one. The old dishwasher was about 20 years and had problems with the heating and the timer so it would have been replaced anyway.

Hey newwave1, what has happened with your logic? You said it went faulty.

Congratulations on your new toys! They look fab! Id love to aquire a Computer control as I think they they are lovely machines. Your a lucky man. The Servis is great also.I love machines with lots of lights and buttons and the servis motors have a fantastic sound to them.

Welcome back, it's nice to see you again. Fantastic videos BTW, really enjoyed watching the old Hoover start with a spin imbalance. It coped with it really well, many of those old Hoovers used to bang violently with an imbalance. At least ours did and the people over the road who owned a similar model, theirs did too.

I absolutely loved your videos, got to part 5. What struck me was how different they sound. The older machine definately sounds louder but has a more vigourous wash action.

Why can't you live nearer LOL, I love those machines.

Congratulations on your second child on the way! And a big good luck on the move.Im glad our move went well and I hope yours does 2. Thanks for your comments. I wish in a way I filmed them when the Logic was on Hot/cold fill and the Electronic 1100 was on cold. The wash times then were nearly identical and it was great fun watching them go through the rinses and spins together.The electronic 1100 takes much longer on the rinses and spins than the Logic. The thing that annoys me about the Logic is that it doesn't have the final tumble.I dont know why they took this away as its such a great feature.

The machine you pictured isn't mine. Is that the one which was on eBay? The fascia on mine isn't as good. I got a new/old stock fascia and a door of eBay a while back. I haven't got round to replacing the fascia yet.The current door on mine is in great nick so don't need to replace but its handy to have the spare.
I love the more vigorous wash action on the electronic 1100.It really gives things a good clean.Yes it is louder than the logic as it has a different motor and I love it. The machines are in the garage and we actually had a nice of days here the other day and I was sitting outside having a cuppa and a fag and the garage door was open and it went onto final spin. It was great listening to it.
I have only been in Scotland 3 1/2 years. My home town is Luton so you wouldn't have been far then!

That is indeed the machine from Ebay. I have just finished watching your vids and I have to say I loved them. What a piece of history you have there. Intresting the newer machine had the suspension problems. I think I prefer the way the older machine washed and span. I think starting the final spin with 500 is easier on the motor than 800.

I loved your easy going commentary too. You definately have a southern accent, I didn't think you were Scottish listening to the vids.

I've just watched all your videos through. Have to say i loved them. With hoover being my favourite make and owning one it was great to see! My logic makes the odd squeek with the suspension too. Nothing too bad though. I'm wondering how common parts are going to be in the next few years? because they're are loads of models still around and im sure hoover are well aware of this.

I always have this cringy thought in my head that big dogs at "example" merloni are telling they're engineers to tell customers to replace their old 95series with new WF series hotpoints when faults are beyond "economical repair" When its something simple like a pump or motor. lol *cringes*

I'm such a div. i forgot to post what i was intending on saying lol!!!

There were a few noticable differences between my A3632 and both your machines,

When my logic is distributing for the intermittent spins the timer will click on. stop the drum. then redistribute and go up to spin. But from what i could see neither of yours did that.

And like your logic mine goes up to 800 on the final spin without that first burst like the 3060.

I did a similar test with my logic and my newwave.

They ran very similar, the differences were all on the newwave. they were all new additions to the cycle that they hadn't had before; like the spin burst in the wash, lower rinse water levels but were still high by 1994 standard, and on interm spins it did lots of pulse spins before doing a long steady interm spin.

The tumble, and drain distributions were all the same. Except my newwave had a module fault so i couldn't tell if the 1300 spins were the same or if either one was better.

Mark, it's great to see that A3060 go through it's cycles. I grew up with that machine (my nana had one), and also our A3110 which was slightly different, and I *think* the A3110 did 4 rinses too. Many happy childhood memories, thanks for bringing them back!

You are correct in that the logic I have goes straight from distribution to spin. Its funny how Hoover change the programme sequence ever so slighty in different models. Guess they constantly research and think some things are better/worse than others in previous time frames/models. I had a A3110 a while back when I had the 3060 and on the 3060 on final spin it does a quick burst first and then tumbles intermitently a bit with the pump on (as you will have seen on the vids).On the 3110 it would do the short burst of spin but then turn the pump off and go into constant tumble and then like the 3060 go into distribute and complete the rest of the spin cycle.

Yes the A3110 is a nice machine. I really wish I hadn,t dumped the one I had and I didnt want to but there were to many rust issues on it and especially on the outer drum and i havent got the confidence to completely take the machine apart as I have tried to do things on previous machines I owned and have completely cocked them up!

I forgot to say that as you are aware from the vids I am not impressed with Ariel! How many suds????????????? I bought a big 120 wash box of Bold yesterday from Costco. Just done first wash with it and was very impressed. Not half as much suds! Havent bought bold for a very long time and I forgot how nice the scent was was (Bought the blue one as thats what I always used to buy before all the other scents arrived).

Darren I was using "big box powder" as it was called years ago.I suppose it was the fact I was washing towels/tea towels. Have not had much luck no matter what I washed but suppose it all depends on various factors. Ariel has always been my favourite powder really so I was disapointed with so many suds. I am loving the Bold though. The scent is lovely when you have something on the radiator as it fills the room. Im not one usually for putting things on radiators as i prefer the tumble dryer but its good for when things have been out and are "nearly dry" as the radiator finishes them off.wouldnt put them on if there was wallpaper up as my mum always did and of course you always get the wallpaper coming off the wall.

Yea bold is really good too. The liquid is very vintage too.

Hi from a new member (and sorry to interrupt the flow of the thread). Just writing to say love your A3060 Mark. Great looking bit of kit - remember many of these from my childhood, along with the follow on A3110. Love the slow down and rev up of the spin. At the time that friends and relatives had A3060's and A3110's, my parents had a lowly (in comparison - although I loved it dearly and miss it terribly today) Hoover 'Matchbox' 3236h - the early red version (hence my user name). I remember opening it one day and flooding the kitchen as my mum had failed to turn the water taps off after using it and overnight it had filled up - then I came along and well.....made a bit of a mess.
Have to say that at the time I felt like I was missing out on things, what with no characterful rev-up spins and only a 770rpm spin versus 1100, but what wouldn't i give to for a matchbox today.
As someone who can't own a personal collection, can I just offer my congratulations to people like you guys who take the time and put in the effort to preserve those machines which, were you not there, would have gone the way of the matchboxes (i.e pretty much/if not totally extinct!).
Now - does anyone have an A3062 Keymatic or A3064 Selectamatic?

It was Ariel Biological yes Darren.
Yes the Logic is the daily machine now as im selling the Whirlpool top loader. I couldnt wait to use the whirlpool when we moved in and a few weeks later it was plumbed in, in the garage. It didnt get over used as it took such a big load and i was also using the 3060 but unfortunately it ripped holes in clothes and pulled apart the stitching on some towels. I thought i would give it some more goes but the last straw was when it ripped a hole in a brand new jumper I had got and it was the first time I had washed it. I was not impressed! It seems the machine is best suited for hotel/ b&b laundry like sheets. Im sure people will have many views and im not intending to start a big thing with my comments.Im sure thousands of people are more than satisfied with there whirlpool top loaders. I just havn't had a good personal experience with mine. I was using the correct wash programmes and wash times and I didnt overload it (Of course I wouldnt overload it being a washer enthusiast its just not done!.lol). Its just one of those things I guess so unfortunately its now sitting in the garage unplumbed and looking sorry for itself until it goes to a new home.

Thanks for your comments. Matchbox Hoover machines are fab.My partners mum had a 3236H and he remembers it well. Great looking machine and so simple to use. Nice to hear about you memories of the 3060 and 3110. Chestermike has a Keymatic model A3008. Below is a link to a video he did of it on spin.

Yep Mike's A3008 is another grand mnachine of the 1970's. Never actually saw a Keymatic in action and was surprised, when I first viewed the vid, that there was so much clicking involved. It will sound stupid, but I asumed it would be more, well, streamlined - more a case of starting straight away, without the machine having to find out what to do by checking all the notches on the key card. Thinking about it though, it is only doing what the human hand would have done on a 'normal' machine i.e manually setting the programme.

Again, maybe diverting the thread a bit, but does anyone have an image or information on the A3064 selectamatic which was sold alongside the A3060. This seems to be one of those machines which has totally vanished from the scene and for which internet seraches return a blank (indeed the only pic I have ever found of the A3062 Keymatic is the one I attached to my first posting).

It is actually the Zanussi that you highlighted to us all which finally convinced me to sign up. Very interesting looking machine, which I had never seen before - probably introduced when my interest went underground and stopped frequenting Currys and Comet just for the hell of it.

You should go for it (of course its easy for me to say as I dont have to find the space), but it would be nice to know that it has gone to someone who would apprceiate it.

At the moment my current abode possesses two machines, neither much to write home about (say that now but in 10 years time I will be reminicing):

Whirlpool Inspirations AWM328 1200rpm
&
Servis EasyLogic 1500.

Told you nothing special - bad luck on the 95 situation. My parents disposed of a very early 95452 last year - an excellent machine which did the family sterling service for 20 years with only brush replacement to worry about (probably three sets). Bearings seized up whilst in operation (been on their way out for ages), luckily not on a spin though otherwise it might have buried itself in the floor! A very much appreciated machine, bought in 1986 and which, because it was almond and blended in, was not replaced when the new kitchen was installed in 2005. Unfortunately the Hoover Matchbox 3022 dryer was pensioned off in full working order to make way for the old kitchen to be put in the garage (parents needed the space). I will always regret that that happened and so wish that I could have taken it on. Had I known of this site I would have offered it to a good home (would have pleased my parents as well as things are made to last in my family and this is a rare example of disposal in full working order).

Hoover 1100..

Glad to have you back and that the move went well, enjoyed the vids, its interesting finding out the differences in programming with all the different machines & models, the 3060 was a great seller for Hoover , the first with the 1100rpm spin, but was so nearly a disaster because of the splitting drums & bearings, like most manufacturers they worked the servicing issues out "In The Field" , just been reading a Which Report which said they where offering customers a total bearing & tub replacement on all 2 year plus machines for a small nominal fee, I suspect (and hope)our machines have had the retrofit, otherwise better start searching for parts now!!!

The Lux Insight looks great, do you have the cooker to match??
