Hi everyone!

My name is Lincoln and I love washing machines!
I'm 8 years old and live in California.

Attached are photos of my vintage washer (2004 Maytag Neptune Set).
I've only owned them for a month.

It's so cool to find other people who love appliances

Indeed, and an 8 year old doing service on them?
Strict electrical/safety codes come to mind, along with the ability to understand proper procedures.

I wouldn’t worry too much about Lincoln’s ability to follow safety regulations regarding working on electrical appliances. Many kids these days are smart as hell and some mature beyond their age in their ability to be responsible. I hope that his parents follow the pursuit of his
hobby to be sure that he’s being safe.

And BTW, welcome to AW.org Lincoln! I think you’ll find a wealth of information to hold your interest. I sure wish that there had been something like this for me when I was your age in 1959! Then all I had was the ability to inspect and observe all the washing machines of family and friends and the World Book Encyclopedia.

Hi Lincoln, I’m glad you found this site washing machines dryers and other home appliances are really fun and interesting and very useful things to be interested in.

I got my first washing machine when I was seven years old our neighbors had given up on their 1956 Norge timeline washer it was laying out in their backyard and I kept going up there and playing with it so my father threw it in our 1956 Ford station wagon and brought it home and put it in our backyard so that my brother and I could play with it.

My interest in appliances turned into a wonderful career. I’m still working every day repairing appliances. It’s incredibly fun career you meet a lot of interesting wonderful people and you make a lot of people’s lives better

Keep up your interest. We’re here to answer questions. Hopefully, someday you can visit and see our museum full of major appliances.
