I've known of this site for a while, but never bothered to join until now.

I don't have a washing machine collection at the moment, although I wish I did I really do love older washing machines and such. I've always have been fascinated by it ever since I was little, but never took real interest in it until lately (mainly because of some great videos on You Tube.) I also do have a liking for vacuums as well.

What I do mainly collect are vintage TVs, box fans, older VHS VCRs, Beta VCRs, vintage audio equipment, etc. I have a lot of videos of this stuff on You Tube if anyone is interested: http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=speedyc395

I've just spent about 2 hours going through the galleries and then reading the forums. This is a really great place

Welcome, and I hope you enjoy yourself! It's always interesting to see how interest so many of these things seem to go together.

I knew some folks collected antique fans, I only learned recently that folks collected vintage box fans, kind of having figured it out looking at some on Ebay and some of the bids. There's some neat ones out there though and some I remember! It's really amazing how electronic equipment has changed in the last 25 years or so too, isn't it?

You'll have fun here regardless of what you collect, becasue you'll be able to enjoy watching others collect things that you like as well!

Right now collecting washers is more of a space issue atm. Once I get settled in my own place, I have a feeling I will start collecting washers as well

No, I haven't seen the Laundromat Twins. I just Googled the George Westinghouse Museum. I'm going to have to check that out.

Keep your eyes open on the forum for wash-in announcements. The next one I know of is in Tuscon, AZ. We do have cons but not every year. Basically it's at the home of someone with a large collection and it's whenever someone can open up their home for about 100 or so people. It's like the most fun you could ever have. It's unbelievable how WASHING MACHINES could bring so many people together.

Jason really said it about wash-ins and what a blast they are. As for the upcoming Tucson wash-in in spring of 2007, here's the original thread posting about it. There's also a thread posted here in the Super forum about it as well, with a cool PDF advertisement! If you want to attend a wash-in, this is THE one to go to! I went to the Tucson wash-in last Spring and I can honestly say I had the best time of my life there!

Spats, it's worth a trip to the Westinghouse Museum in Wilmerding just to see the Twins. They have a whole Appliance room. There is also a Westinghouse roaster at the Heinz History Center. Tucson is too far away for us, but maybe there could be a Pittsburgh wash in someday. Do you know of any Westinghouse or WW front loaders that are intact? Someone on Imperial is looking for one, but it seems they rusted badly.

Yeah, Tucson is a bit far, and it'd be cool to have one here someday.

Right now, I'm still getting into vintage washing machines. I'm just taking it all in right now, and learning about all the different makes and models, etc.

I think I know of some places I can look into, but I am unaware of any actual Westinghouses like you mentioned at the moment.

I'm sure you guys have been to Kennywood a few times in your life. I've been there ONCE and had only time to ride Phantom's Revenge. What an awesome park. I'd want to see Idlewild as well.

I've been to Kennywood, but it's been about 10 years. I've actually been to Idlewild more times than Kennywood.
