Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

any guessers/takers ?

Oooooh I'll take!!!!
My guess would be a early 1950's, rare, mobile James dishwasher unit that glides into a Universal gas range.

If it is...do I get to keep it??? :-)

Rich ???

What on earth ? How could you possibly think that ? THere is NOTHING about this pic that would let one think that it could be a DW, nevermind a JAMES DW, ludicrous ..........

I can't believe

you guys are to much, ok, yes, and the rest of the stove was in rough shape and not worth taking most unfortunately so I saved the DW part ............ NEVER thought I would find something like this.

tops up

top open, plugged it in, got it to drain the little bit of water I put in, then "POOF" went dead and some serious smoke came out from the back/bottom, the cord is in real rough shape, so now I don't know what to do, I need to replace the cord first but am afraid to plug it in again for fear of ruining something or starting a fire.

nope to the stove

the stove was in terrible condition, I almost drove right by it, I had no clue and I went to pull/open the left side and the DW came out and that was in good shape, so I asked if I could take it and the guy said sure ..........

Thats a wonderful find Greg, I had an idea of what it was when I saw the first pic, but I didnt want to spoil your guessing game. Oh well....... I have a James dishwasher too but not the stove model. I have not used it for a long time, it was working last time I tried it. It sure is an interesting mechanism........I was even able to locate a stash of the pump parts, seals and cams a while back.......

thanks guys

thanks all .......... now if I can just figure out what went wrong with the "poof" and smoke, I don't know if water leaked out on to or into the motor ???

Lawrence here is a pic of the switches.

Don't we all wish we knew just what was wrong with what

oh Greg, swooning here. What a great catch. Let us know how things progress.

You are in trouble now, mister. *LOL*
Yet another reason for me to visit Massachusetts.

How could you possibly think that ?

Well it just so happens that a little birdie told me that you might get this fabulous DW AND I do have a picture of this unit which shows the front beautifully!! So Ha!

CONGRATS on your great find. Don't worry about a little smoke...everyone should have a big poof in their house! Even better if it does dishes!!!!!

Rich

Hi Greg, wow that is a great find, I love mine, I ran it over the weekend.

It appears to me from looking at your pictures that the heater switch has been rewired as two of the three terminals on the switch are missing wires plugged into it. When you try the dishwasher again make sure that the Sani-Rinse switch is set to off and see if it still smokes.

thanks Robert, but

thanks Robert, actually the switch was in the "off" pos when I turned on the machine, I don't have a wiring diagram, could the "poof/smoke" be from a fried relay inside the motor ? I know "relays" were not separate from the motor back then, I don't think ........ could the motor be "straining" from "lack of use" ?
