Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I thought the "electric sink" models had a sightly different model number.  Like maybe KDI37 or KDI57 (but I think that as portable).  that's why I question as to whether this was actually completely original.  I also thought at this tie Electric Sink KitchenAids only came in Custom & Superba models.  But I could be wrong.

Kitchen Aid Imperial

This is a KDI-17 made in 1973-1975 (if I'm correct), however it is not the original dishwasher for this sink cabinet. The Imperial was never featured in the dishwasher sink combination...only the Superba or Custom models. This appears to be a replacement for either one of those models, or another brand that had a similar sink set-up (Frigidaire, etc).

The front of the machine looks good, and like all KitchenAids washes quite well.

We need Todd (varicyclevoice) to look at his KitchenAid literature to help solve this mystery.

But to me, something just does not look right. At first, I suspected a dishwasher COMPANY switch!

I have a KDC-37 Electric Sink (KDC-17). There are two cabinet doors underneath the sink with a split in the middle (poor picture).

I also have a KD-30 Electric Sink (KD-10). The doors under the sink open the same way, from the middle.

Now, look at the metal pull handle on this "KDI-17" Electric Sink. It looks suspiciously like the pull handle on my 1949 Hotpoint Electric Sink. However, the backsplash is totally different on the Hotpoint, so this MUST be a KitchenAid Electric Sink base - I just do not know what the original model dishwasher would have been installed.
