Update:
After researching Tuttle & Kift's patents, it turns out that little box is a filter condenser to prevent radio interference from the arcing of the switches. Which means that the infinite heat switch motor, pilot lights, convenience outlet, and automaticook timer are all on a separate 110 volt system throughout the range.
Cool. Maybe....
But, the wiring diagram I found doesn't explain the indicator lights - so will be researching those further.
