That GE Washer

That is exactly what our washer looked like. THE washer my parents bought because they wre tired of me playing in the Bendix. (Our model was NOT a Filter-Flo definitely).

My goodness! The washer might just be one of the first Filter-Flo models with that copper filter pan!

I hope some can save them!!

That is a 56 filter-flo, the very first one. Looks like the rubber gaskit is missing from the activator that holds the filter pan in place but there must be one of those around in the club somewhere.

WOW! Hard to believe that a set like this is still out there! After all these years, and in pink no less. I don't think I've ever seen a pink combo of this vintage either.

I was thinking the fridge, which clearly pre-dates the laundry pair, was originally white. The washer and dryer appear to be a different shade of pink, unless it's the camera, and having been identified as '56 models, it makes sense that they were pink from the factory, but I don't think the early Combination fridges came in anything but white.

I hope somebody can save these. Not having a BIN on them could send the price soaring.

I was thinking the same thing Ralph...

I've never seen that model GE fridge in any color but white. Never mentioned in the ads of the time either. If memory serves me correctly, that model was their first 2 door, introduced in 1948.

Ben LOVES refrigerators

I may like refrigerators, but they LOVE me!

The Combination is probably a 1952 model - maybe '53 at the latest. My '51 was the last without door shelves. Someone spent some time (and money) spraying it in pink. They got the jambs and insides of the door lips. It was also done quite some time ago - the typical rust along the bottom door frame is present.

Sweet washer and dryer!

Ben

The fridge is definitely from 1952

the 1953 model had the handle on the freezer door you pulled up on and the fridge door had a handle you pulled down on to open them....PAT COFFEY

I know the fridge is not a '51

My '51 has no shelves in the door. Anyone know when Crosley's door shelf patent ran out?

That's a very energy efficient refrigerator. Mine uses less than 350 KWH a year and does not need defrosting often.

Saving? Saving?

Don't think the question is that these units will require "saving", but to whom they shall go and at what price.

Very wise of the seller IMHO to start with a resonable floor bid and then let things go as they may. There have been several pink W&D offerings on fleaPay in the past with really out of line "BIN" prices as the only way of closing the deal, and the units sat without takers.

OTHO there have been other pink washer and dryer sets listed without BIN and they did quite well. Mind you there were some hard feelings, and I'm not naming any names, but none the less units sold.

Anyone know when Crosley's door shelf patent ran out?

yes we do the patent ran for 17 years and was up in 1950 that is why Westinghouse started putting shelves in their doors in 1951 and Ge and the rest followed soon after PATRICK COFFEY

Stop Messing Me About!

This happened again?

When one checked the auction after work (around 5PM) there was one opening bid, now it's gone?

That's it, I'm through listing auctions for rare and or unique items in this forum. Let someone else's fingers do the walking.

Launderess,

AGREED! This is a shame! I was really looking forward to watching this one actually go all the way through the bidding process. My remaining thoughts about this are in the Dirty Laundry forum.

I will continue to keep these kind of auctions to myself as well.

Mike

I'm hoping . . .

That a member here negotiated a deal and, just like when people win at Mega Millions, will come forward after the dust settles.

eBay

The purpose of auctions is to give everyone a fair shot, very selfish and underhanded, IMO. It sucks that it was my bid that got dismissed. Would have been entertaining and exciting to watch the last hour of that auction. Win or loose.
