West Coast Wash in

I see a splashy time in our future in Seattle. We'll have to rally as soon as the move is over. Maybe before... any movers and landscapers out there?

That 1961 Imperial range has a pull and clean oven. I have the Custom Imperial double oven range in turquoise. Don't let the hole worry you. What's so strange about a small hole in the bottom? Everyone has one. I keep the oven floors covered with foil anyway. Your oven has the Broiler-Grill. It is an infinite switch that controls the broiler element. In most stoves, you would simply place the food to be broiled on a lower rack position for more well done or gentler heat. These ranges came with the Frigidaire Radiant Wall Broiler Pan. It looked like a rectangular aluminum roaster, with a deeper pan and a shallower pan. For broiling, water was placed in the shallower pan then the deeper pan was set on top of the water pan. A chrome rack went into the pan and the food was put on the rack. The pan went into the oven on the required shelf so that the top of the pan was right under the broiler element. The design kept pops and splatters to a minimum since the bottom of the pan was water-cooled and the high sides not only reflected the heat, but confined the splatters to the walls of the pan and to the coils of the element and its reflector. Since the pan was a fixed distance from the heat, the Broiler-Grill switch could be adjusted from the RARE position which gave constant full heat to settings for MEDIUM and all the way down to WELL to give slower broiling without having to move the pan in such a way that it might let the oven get dirty.

For roasting, the two halves could be put together to form a covered pan.

Each oven rack will hold 2 Bundt pans.

This was Frigidaire's only year with linear controls for the CookMaster. The fluorescent light makes the whole control panel and range top shine and I like the individual lights for each control.

I hope you have a lot of joy with the new house and the Frigidaire Imperial 40" range.
