Hi Everyone

In response to Barry's homemade washing detergent, I thought I would share this one with.

A few months ago a friend of mine told me about this recipe for homemade surface cleaner that was not only CHEAP, but all natural (well just about anyway). Being the lover of traditional store bought cleaners (and an ultimate consumer... sucked into anything new advertised LOL)... I was sceptical. Well I used it a few weeks ago when I was helping him clean one day, and I can say is (apart from me being wrong).. OMG it's fantastic. With the Eucalypt scent it is not offensive and it cleans stainless steel and glass without streaking.

Anyway, for those that would like to give a try, here it is (plus a Dishwasher Powder).

Enjoy

All Purpose Cleaning Solution
1 litre of Water
200ml Vinegar
40ml Detergent
40ml Eucalyptus Oil
2 Dessertspoons Washing Soda

Mix all ingredients together and it’s ready. Makes about 2 litres. Use 60ml in warm water to wash floors. Fill spray bottle and use to clean tables, benches, bathroom, windows and stainless steel.

Dishwashing Powder
1 cup Baking Soda
1 cup Lectric Soda
¼ cup Salt
¼ cup Citric Acid
A few drops of Tea-Tree Oil
Shake the ingredients in a sealed container. Use 2 tablespoons per load

Hi Bruce

It's amazing, how we consume products that we don't really need! I've made something similar, it was mostly distilled water, a little vinegar, a little Dr Broners castile soap (Eucalyptus) and a little vodka! Put it in a spray bottle and it will clean just about anything!

You're absolutely correct!

Hi Stan

You are right. I used to be someone who was so dependent on a commercial product, but as you mentioned, if we break it all down to a basic form, we still survived although our parents used basic products that have basic components. Funny how the Marketeers make us change our ways.

Hi Ken

Lectric Soda is commonly know as Sodium Carbonate crystals, and they can be found in most laundry supply aisles. (The are also used in dogs when you need them to throw-up anything that they should not have scowled, which could serious harm them. My vet put this onto me as my Schnauzer has eaten many things that he shouldn't have)

In regards to where to buy Eucalyptus oil, I would suggest your local health/natural supply store. If you can't locate it easily, I would suggest supplementing it with Tea Tree Oil or pure Lavender Oil.

Hope this is of some help
